Rawalpindi: A delegation from the Anjuman-i-Tajiran Moti Bazaar, led by its President Wahab Bhatti, called on the Acting President of the Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI), Khalid Farooq Qazi, at the Chamber office on Friday.

The delegation discussed pressing issues facing the commercial sector, including tax concerns, infrastructure facilities, and local trade challenges.

Extending a formal invitation to the RCCI leadership to visit Moti Bazaar, the delegation emphasized the importance of close coordination between trade bodies and the chamber to resolve shopkeepers’ grievances.

Assuring the delegation of full support, RCCI Acting President Khalid Farooq Qazi promised to visit Moti Bazaar soon and affirmed that the Chamber remains dedicated to advocating for the commercial community and addressing their operational hurdles.

RCCI Vice President Fahad Barlas, former President Jalil Malik, Executive Members Badar Haroon, Noreen Ghaffar, and other Chamber representatives were also present during the meeting.

Gujrat: Head Qadirabad on the Chenab River continued to experience high flood on Friday, while water flow at Head Marala and Head Khanki remained at the medium flood level, according to official figures.

Officials said that Head Qadirabad recorded an upstream inflow of 234, 271 cusecs and a downstream outflow of 219, 271 cusecs. At Head Marala, the upstream inflow stood at 189, 126 cusecs while the downstream discharge was recorded at 175, 426 cusecs.

Head Khanki received an upstream inflow of 203, 374 cusecs and released 198, 444 cusecs downstream with both barrages remaining at medium flood level.

Meanwhile, Mangla Dam on the Jhelum River remained within the normal operating range.

The reservoir level was recorded at 1, 185.70 feet with an inflow of 60, 001 cusecs and an outflow of 10, 000 cusecs.

The flow in Bhimbar Nullah also remained normal at 1, 874 cusecs while Munawar Tavi recorded a discharge of 7, 547 cusecs.

The latest readings come as authorities continue to monitor river flows amid the ongoing monsoon spell.

Sargodha: The Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) on Friday arrested a patwari for allegedly accepting a Rs.400, 000 bribe from a citizen to process an inheritance transfer, officials said.

According to ACE officials, the accused, identified as Zafar was serving as a patwari in Chak Kooray Wala when he allegedly demanded and received Rs.400, 000 from Hameed Ullah for transferring inherited property in the official land record.

Acting on a complaint filed by the citizen, an ACE team under the supervision of Deputy Director(DD), Ameer Abdullah Khan conducted a raid and arrested the suspect.

A case has been registered against the accused while further investigation was underway.

Peshawar: The death toll from heavy monsoon rains and flash floods in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has risen to 28, while 29 others have been injured since July 19, as torrential downpours continue to batter several parts of the province, the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) said on Friday.

According to the latest damage assessment issued by the PDMA, the victims lost their lives after roofs and walls of houses collapsed or were swept away by flash floods.

The deceased include 10 men, three women and 15 children, while the injured comprise 13 men, nine women and seven children.

The authority said the ongoing spell of heavy rains has also caused significant damage to property, with 47 houses affected across the province. Of these, 37 sustained partial damage, while 10 were completely destroyed.

The rain-related incidents have been reported from Peshawar, Nowshera, Khyber, Mardan, Buner, Bajaur, Shangla, Swabi, Upper and Lower Chitral, Upper and Lower Dir, Abbottabad, Mansehra, Haripur, Upper Kohistan, Tank, Tor Ghar, Kurram, and North and South Waziristan.

PDMA said rescue and relief operations are underway in coordination with Rescue 1122, district administrations and other relevant agencies.

District authorities have been directed to accelerate relief efforts and ensure the prompt distribution of assistance and essential supplies to the affected families.

The authority also advised people to avoid unnecessary travel, stay away from vulnerable tourist destinations and strictly follow official weather alerts and advisories.

PDMA’s Emergency Operation Centre remains operational round the clock. Citizens have been urged to report emergencies or seek weather-related information through the toll-free helpline 1700.

Attock: A 13-year-old boy was electrocuted while repairing an electrical appliance, while three other people, including two construction workers and a woman, sustained injuries in separate incidents reported from different parts of Attock district, police said on Friday.

According to police sources, 13-year-old Mustafa Ahmed died after suffering an electric shock while working on an electrical appliance at his home in Kharala village, within the jurisdiction of Fateh Jang Police Station.

He succumbed to the shock at the scene before any medical assistance could be provided. In another incident, two construction labourers were injured when the wall of an under-construction house collapsed in Dhak village, falling within the limits of Jand Police Station.

The injured were identified as 37-year-old Muhammad Farman and 19-year-old Mubashir Khan. They were shifted to a nearby healthcare facility for treatment, where their condition was reported to be stable.

Meanwhile, a 48-year-old woman sustained injuries after the roof of her house collapsed in Gulberg Town near Kamra following the recent heavy rains. The incident occurred within the jurisdiction of Hazro Police Station.

She was rescued by local residents and taken to hospital for medical treatment.Police have registered separate cases in all three incidents and launched investigations to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the accidents.

Dera ismail khan: Acting on the directives of Deputy Commissioner Dera Ismail Khan and with a focus on public convenience, Assistant Commissioner Dr. Muhammad Hamid Siddiq has ordered improvement works on the link road adjoining the city flyover to ensure smoother traffic flow and safer commuting.

Following the directives, the concerned department deployed heavy machinery to level and grade both sides of the link road, improving its condition and facilitating the movement of vehicles and pedestrians.

The Assistant Commissioner also directed the relevant authorities to ensure regular water sprinkling on the road to suppress dust, reduce environmental pollution, and provide a safer and more comfortable travel experience for the public.

Dr. Hamid Siddiq said the district administration remained committed to improving public infrastructure and ensuring the provision of essential civic facilities.

He added that development and rehabilitation works were being closely monitored to ensure their timely completion in accordance with the required quality standards.
