Dera ismail khan: Deputy Commissioner South Waziristan Upper, Irfan Ali Khan has continued his public-friendly open-door policy at his office to resolve problems of people in the area.

The meetings were held in line with the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Government’s directives aimed at ensuring greater public access to district administration and improving service delivery. According to the administration citizens from different parts of the district met the Deputy Commissioner and highlighted a range of civic and administrative issues.

During the meetings, he reviewed the complaints and applications in detail and directed the relevant departments to take immediate action in accordance with the law and on merit. He instructed officials to ensure that all genuine public grievances are addressed without unnecessary delay.

Reaffirming the district administration’s commitment to good governance, the DC said that the timely, transparent, and effective resolution of public issues remained the administration’s foremost priority.

He added that negligence in resolving legitimate public concerns would not be tolerated and assured citizens that every possible effort would be made to provide efficient and people-centric public services.

Peshawar: Special Assistant to KP Chief Minister on Tourism, Culture, Archaeology and Museums Malik Adeel Iqbal chaired a review meeting of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Culture and Tourism Authority (KPCTA)’s Annual Development Programme (ADP) for fiscal year 2026-27.

Director General (DG) Culture and Tourism Authority Shahid Khan and other senior officials attended the meeting.

The meeting reviewed in detail the progress of ongoing and proposed development schemes under Authority’s Annual Development Programme.

Malik Adeel Iqbal directed the relevant officials to accelerate the pace of work and ensure that all development schemes are completed within the stipulated timeframe and in accordance with prescribed quality standards.

The meeting was informed that work is currently underway on seventeen ongoing and five new development schemes during the 2026-27 fiscal year. These projects focus on improving tourism infrastructure, developing new recreational destinations, promoting cultural activities and providing modern facilities for tourists.

Speaking on the occasion, Malik Adeel Iqbal said that under the leadership of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Afridi, provincial government is implementing effective and result-oriented measures to promote tourism across the province.

He directed officials to launch a comprehensive awareness campaign for Tourism Helpline 1422 so that both domestic and international tourists can fully benefit from service.

He further stressed that tangible progress on development projects must be visible on the ground and announced that regular review meetings would be held to closely monitor the implementation of Annual Development Programme.

The meeting reaffirmed the government’s commitment to completing all ongoing projects on time and in line with highest quality standards to further promote tourism and culture in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, strengthen the local economy, create new employment opportunities and realise government’s vision of providing world-class facilities to domestic and international tourists.

Rawalpindi: Commissioner Rawalpindi Division Salman Ghani on Friday directed the Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO) to take immediate measures to minimize the risk of electrocution during the monsoon season and ensure uninterrupted electricity supply to consumers.

Chairing a meeting at the Commissioner’s Office, Salman said the risk of electrocution increased significantly during rainfall as water could conduct electricity, posing serious hazards around utility poles, transformers and household wiring.

The commissioner directed IESCO to ensure the immediate repair or replacement of loose, damaged or fallen power lines and strengthen monitoring of rain-affected feeders and low-lying areas to prevent accidents.

He said uninterrupted electricity supply during the monsoon was the utility’s primary responsibility, adding that unnecessary load-shedding and prolonged outages during rainfall would not be tolerated.

Ghani also directed the power utility to ensure continuous monitoring of electricity poles, transformers and other installations submerged in rainwater and to take immediate precautionary measures wherever public safety was at risk.

He stressed that power supply to hospitals, educational institutions, markets, public places and major highways should remain uninterrupted. The commissioner further instructed IESCO to keep its emergency response and field teams on round-the-clock alert, maintain a fully functional control room for the prompt redressal of public complaints and ensure effective coordination with the district administration, Rescue 1122, WASA and other relevant departments to respond swiftly to any emergency. The meeting was attended by Chief Executive Officer IESCO, Additional Commissioner (Coordination) Zeinia Humayun, Director Development Syed Nazarat Ali Shah and other concerned officers.

Rawalpindi: Commissioner Rawalpindi Division Salman Ghani on Friday reviewed the progress of key infrastructure projects in the city and directed the departments concerned to ensure their timely completion while maintaining quality standards and safety measures during the monsoon season.

Accompanied by officers of the relevant departments, the commissioner inspected the ongoing Qasim Market Development Project, Race Course Chowk Development Project and the 1, 400mm water supply pipeline being laid by the Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) on Syedpur Road under the Punjab Development Programme.

Officials briefed the commissioner that the Qasim Market Development Project would facilitate around 182, 000 vehicles daily on completion, while the Race Course Chowk Development Project would improve traffic flow for nearly 250, 000 vehicles each day.

They informed him that both projects were scheduled for completion in June 2027 while utility shifting, construction of drains, service corridors, and land acquisition were currently underway.

Ghani directed all departments to expedite work in accordance with the approved timeline and ensure high construction standards.

He instructed the agencies concerned to resolve utility shifting and other technical issues through close coordination to avoid delays and provide citizens with improved and safer transport infrastructure at the earliest.

Later, accompanied by Managing Director WASA Rawalpindi Azizullah Khan, the commissioner inspected the ongoing work on the 1, 400mm water supply line on Syedpur Road. During the briefing, the WASA managing director said around 70 per cent of the project had been completed, and that work was scheduled to be finished by Aug 20, 2026.

He said the project would ensure a more reliable and sustainable supply of clean drinking water to residents after completion.

The commissioner directed WASA to further accelerate the pace of work to complete the project within the stipulated timeframe.

He also instructed the authorities to minimise excavation work during the monsoon, immediately secure open excavation sites and ensure adequate safety arrangements, including warning signboards, reflectors, proper night-time lighting and effective traffic management at all construction sites to protect public life and property and maintain smooth traffic flow.

Sargodha: Police arrested 26 suspects, including nine proclaimed offenders(POs), during a crackdown across the district, officials said on Friday. According to police, teams from various police stations conducted raids at different locations over the past 24 hours and apprehended the accused involved in various criminal cases.

The arrested suspects were identified as Aslam, Nouman, Sultan, Shamus, Shamsahir, Saqib, Hassan, Mehmood, Tipu, Taimoor, Majeed, Sarwar, Saqlain, Sibtain Khan and Anjum among others.

Police said the suspects were wanted in connection with serious offenses, including murder, attempted murder, robbery, dacoity, cattle theft and motorcycle theft cases.

A police spokesperson said stolen motorcycles, cattle, narcotics including heroin, opium, hashish and ice, as well as illegal weapons were recovered from the possession of the arrested suspects.

Cases have been registered against the accused while further investigations was underway.
