Multan: Multan Police continued its crackdown against criminal elements across the city, arresting eight women allegedly involved in pickpocketing during an operation in the busy Delhi Gate Bazaar.

According to police sources, teams of the Multan Police Pink Squad conducted the action and apprehended the eight suspected pickpockets from the market area. The operation was part of the ongoing efforts to curb street crime and protect citizens, particularly in crowded commercial areas where people are more vulnerable to such incidents.

Police said that legal proceedings had been initiated against the arrested women in accordance with the law, while further action would be taken following completion of the relevant legal process.

The crackdown was being carried out on the directions of City Police Officer (CPO) Sadiq Ali Dogar, with police teams conducting indiscriminate action against criminal elements to ensure the safety and security of citizens and maintain a peaceful environment in the city.

Multan Police said it was taking all possible measures to prevent criminal activities and provide a secure environment to citizens. The police also urged people to remain vigilant in crowded places and immediately inform the police about any suspicious person or activity.

The police appealed to citizens to cooperate with law-enforcement agencies and play their role in preventing crime, stressing that timely reporting of suspicious activities could help police take prompt action and make the city safer for everyone.

Peshawar: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Information Minister Shafiullah Jan has announced a Rs10 million grant for the Haripur Press Club during his visit, reaffirming the provincial government’s commitment to the welfare of journalists.

Speaking to the media, the minister said the government is working on several initiatives for journalists, including access to loans, residential plots, a pension scheme and financial assistance for those facing serious illnesses. He also urged the journalist community to set aside differences and promote unity.

The information minister further said that social media has become a powerful platform for communication. However, he alleged that some fake social media pages and web channels are spreading baseless propaganda.

Faisalabad: City Police Officer (CPO) Tanveer Hussain has presented motorcycles to the sons of a martyred police official and a constable who died during service, and said that the police department is committed for the education, welfare and well-being of families of police martyrs and Ghazis.

The motorcycles were handed over to Hammad Afzal, son of martyred Head Constable Muhammad Afzal, and Abdul Rehman, son of late Constable Ghazi Sajjad Akbar, to facilitate their commute to school and college.

During a formal ceremony, the CPO met both families in the presence of Incharge Welfare and other police officers.

He inquired about the children’s education, upbringing and overall welfare, and assured the families that police department would continue extending every possible support to meet their educational and essential needs.

The children expressed their happiness and gratitude after receiving the motorcycles, describing the gesture as a valuable encouragement for pursuing their education.

Speaking on the occasion, CPO Tanveer Hussain paid tribute to police martyrs and said that those who sacrificed their lives for the protection of country and its people were true heroes of the nation.

He said that immortal sacrifices of martyrs were pride of the police force and would continue to inspire future generations with their courage, devotion and sense of duty.

He said that all possible measures would be taken to ensure quality education, proper upbringing and a secure future for children of the police martyrs and Ghazis.

Hyderabad: On the order of the Provincial Ombudsman, the Hyderabad Development Authority (HDA) here on Monday cancelled the layout plan and No Objection Certificate of Zafar housing scheme, a large residential project located in the city’s outskirts.

The media cell of the HDA informed that all the concerned government departments had been communicated about the HDA’s move with clear information that the scheme in question should not be offered any services.

According to the media cell, the scheme’s sponsor and developer had failed to provide adequate water supply, drainage and infrastructure facilities in the project in violation of the HDA’s rules and regulations. The HDA also advised the public against investing in the said housing scheme.
