Rawalpindi: Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) and Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, NI (M), HJ, has reiterated that terrorism emanating from across the borders will be crushed with the full might of the state.

Addressing the graduating officers of the National Security and War Course comprising participants from all services at National Defence University (NDU), the COAS said the Armed Forces, with the support of the nation, will ensure that terrorist sanctuaries of these proxies along with their facilitators are completely dismantled, said a news release issued by Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR).

He said that the Armed Forces remain fully cognizant of state-sponsored attempts by hostile intelligence agencies to destabilize Pakistan. Efforts of such proxies and networks, who operate under the tutelage of hostile intelligence agencies are futile and will not be allowed to undermine Pakistan’s internal security and economic prosperity, he said.

The Field Marshal highlighted the evolving character of warfare and underscored centrality of strategic clarity and institutional professionalism in navigating complex strategic issues.

He lauded the role of premier institutions like NDU in nurturing future military-civil leadership capable of mitigating hybrid, conventional and sub-conventional threats with foresight, confidence and resolve.

The Field Marshal also highlighted that Pakistan Armed Forces were recalibrating their employment and development strategies in line with the evolved character of warfare.

The Field Marshal remarked that wars are not won through media rhetoric or political sloganeering but through faith, unity and discipline.

Expressing full confidence in the professionalism, morale and operational readiness of the battle-hardened Armed Forces of Pakistan, the COAS urged the graduating officers to dutifully adhere to the values of integrity, selfless service and unwavering commitment to the nation.

Earlier, upon arrival at National Defence University the Field Marshal was received by the President NDU.

Torghar: Deputy Commissioner Torghar, Dr Yasir Imran, has imposed Section 144 along the Indus River and other vulnerable water channels in the district as a precautionary measure against potential hazards arising from rising water levels during the monsoon season.

The decision was taken during a meeting chaired by the deputy commissioner to review the increasing flow in the Indus River and local streams and assess the preparedness of relevant departments. Officials briefed the meeting on boating operations and other water-related activities, while also outlining potential risks and ongoing safety arrangements.

Dr Yasir Imran directed all concerned departments to ensure strict implementation of precautionary measures and take proactive steps to safeguard lives and prevent any untoward incidents. He emphasized that all relevant agencies should remain fully alert and coordinated to effectively respond to any emergency situation during the monsoon season.

Faisalabad: Two people including a three-year-old child were killed and eight others sustained serious injuries when a speeding car rammed into a loader rickshaw carrying a family at Gattwala Underpass on Canal Road here on Wednesday.

Rescue 1122 spokesman said that rescue teams rushed to the scene immediately after receiving the emergency call and shifted the critically injured to hospital in addition to moving the bodies to mortuary after completing legal formalities.

He said that preliminary investigations revealed that the speeding car hit the loader rickshaw, which was travelling from Sahianwala to Faisalabad with 12 family members on board. The impact left two passengers dead on the spot and injured the remaining occupants.

The deceased were identified as 65-year-old Sadiq Ali son of Manak and three-year-old Ayan son of Boota. After completing the necessary rescue procedures, Rescue 1122 handed over the bodies to Madina Town police and shifted them to mortuary of Allied Hospital-I Faisalabad.

Rescue officials provided first aid to the victims at the scene before transporting eight critically injured persons to Allied Hospital-I for further treatment. They included Iftikhar-ul-Hassan, 43, Shehzad Ahmed Bilal, 22, Maqsoodan Bibi, 38, Ishrat Bibi, 35, three-year-old Abdul Hadi, one-year-old Umm-e-Farwah, five-year-old Usman Ali and 35-year-old Shugar Bibi.

Two other injured children, six-year-old Usman and two-year-old Anaya, suffered minor injuries and were treated on the spot after receiving first aid, he added.
