Two killed, eight injured in car-rickshaw collision

Faisalabad: Two people including a three-year-old child were killed and eight others sustained serious injuries when a speeding car rammed into a loader rickshaw carrying a family at Gattwala Underpass on Canal Road here on Wednesday.



Rescue 1122 spokesman said that rescue teams rushed to the scene immediately after receiving the emergency call and shifted the critically injured to hospital in addition to moving the bodies to mortuary after completing legal formalities.



He said that preliminary investigations revealed that the speeding car hit the loader rickshaw, which was travelling from Sahianwala to Faisalabad with 12 family members on board. The impact left two passengers dead on the spot and injured the remaining occupants.



The deceased were identified as 65-year-old Sadiq Ali son of Manak and three-year-old Ayan son of Boota. After completing the necessary rescue procedures, Rescue 1122 handed over the bodies to Madina Town police and shifted them to mortuary of Allied Hospital-I Faisalabad.



Rescue officials provided first aid to the victims at the scene before transporting eight critically injured persons to Allied Hospital-I for further treatment. They included Iftikhar-ul-Hassan, 43, Shehzad Ahmed Bilal, 22, Maqsoodan Bibi, 38, Ishrat Bibi, 35, three-year-old Abdul Hadi, one-year-old Umm-e-Farwah, five-year-old Usman Ali and 35-year-old Shugar Bibi.



Two other injured children, six-year-old Usman and two-year-old Anaya, suffered minor injuries and were treated on the spot after receiving first aid, he added.
