Faisalabad: A man was killed, while three others were injured in a road mishap in Khanoana bypass chowk,Satiana Road here on Wednesday.

According to Rescue-1122, a trailer was parked at roadside and its helper was changing a punctured tyre when another speeding trailer collided with the vehicle. Consequently, 40-year-old helper Allah Ditta died on the spot while three others — Riaz (45), Umar (25) and Adeel (40) suffered injuries.

The body was moved to the mortuary while the injured were rushed to DHQ hospital.

Rawalpindi: Police have arrested four suspects belonging to two separate gangs allegedly involved in robberies, motorcycle theft and other street crimes and recovered five stolen motorcycles, cash, a mobile phone and illegal weapons during separate operations.

According to police spokesperson, the New Town Police arrested two members of a gang and recovered five stolen motorcycles, Rs19,200 in cash and weapons from their possession. Police said the arrested suspects had previously been declared proclaimed offenders (POs) in robbery cases and were wanted by law enforcement authorities.

In a separate operation, Westridge Police apprehended two members of another gang allegedly involved in robbery and theft cases. Police recovered Rs21,000 in stolen cash and a mobile phone from the suspects.

The spokesperson said the arrested suspects would be produced before the court with substantial evidence to ensure their prosecution in accordance with the law. Police added that operations against criminal elements involved in street crime and property offences would continue across the district.

Gujrat: Commissioner Gujranwala Division Muhammad Ali visited the Madina Disposal Station in Gujrat to review the progress of an ongoing drainage improvement project.

According to official sources, the commissioner, accompanied by Deputy Commissioner Gujrat Noor-ul-Ain Qureshi, inspected the disposal station, reviewed the completed pipeline work and examined the progress of the project.

Managing Director WASA Kashan Hafeez Butt briefed the commissioner on the development work, including the disposal system and pumping station being executed under the Punjab Development Programme to strengthen the city’s drainage system ahead of the monsoon season.

Assistant Commissioner Gujrat Abdul Qadeer Zarkoon and other relevant officers were also present during the visit.
