Rawalpindi: Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) conducted eight operations across the country and arrested 10 suspects, including a woman, and recovered 55. 281 kilograms(kgs) of narcotics worth more than Rs 9. 2 million, an ANF spokesman said on Monday.

During an operation near Chungi No. 26 in Islamabad, ANF recovered 2. 4 kg of hashish from a vehicle and arrested the suspect, who, during initial interrogation, confessed to supplying drugs to students of educational institutions. In separate international drug interdiction operations, officials recovered one kg of heroin from the luggage of a passenger travelling to Bahrain at Faisalabad International Airport.

At Lahore International Airport, ANF recovered 25 methamphetamine (ice)-filled capsules weighing 175 grams from the abdomen of a passenger travelling to Jeddah. At Islamabad International Airport, officials recovered 4. 606 kg of methamphetamine concealed in clothing packed inside the luggage of a man and a woman travelling to Jeddah.

In Rawalpindi, ANF recovered 6. 5 kg of cannabis oil soaked into visiting cards and wrapped in cloth from a parcel destined for the United Kingdom at a courier office. At a courier office in Karachi’s Gulshan-e-Iqbal area, officials recovered two kgs of heroin concealed in clothing from a parcel destined for the United Kingdom.

During an inter-provincial operation near the Sangjani Toll Plaza, ANF recovered 33. 6 kg of hashish from two vehicles and arrested three suspects. In another operation in a housing society in Quetta district, officials recovered five kgs of methamphetamine from a vehicle and arrested two suspects.

The spokesman said separate cases had been registered against the accused under the Control of Narcotic Substances Act, 1997, while further investigations were underway.

Gujrat: Deputy Commissioner Noor-ul-Ain Qureshi chaired a meeting to review the arrangements for Chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA). According to official sources, police and officers of relevant departments attended the meeting and briefed the deputy commissioner on their duty rosters and operational plans. The meeting reviewed security, traffic management, sanitation, Rescue 1122 services, healthcare facilities and other administrative arrangements to ensure the peaceful observance of Chehlum.

Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Qurat-ul-Ain, Assistant Commissioner Gujrat Abdul Qadeer Zarkoon and other officers concerned also attended the meeting.

Rawalpindi: Following the directives of Chief Minister Punjab, Deputy Commissioner Rawalpindi Captain (Retd) Nadeem Nasir on Monday chaired a comprehensive review meeting on urban beautification, sports ground development, public libraries, and Sahulat Bazaars across the district.

During the session, Assistant Commissioners (AC) presented detailed briefings on proposed sites within their respective tehsils.

AC Saddar identified beautification locations in Sagri, Basali, Baga Sheikhan, and Panjgran.

AC Cantonment proposed establishing a sports ground at Mohri Ghazan. AC Taxila outlined plans for the rehabilitation and beautification of GT Road Taxila, and AC Gujar Khan briefed on sports grounds and public utilities along GT Road and Barki Bazaar.

Meanwhile, AC City presented a beautification plan for Murree Road, and AC Kahuta identified sites for sports grounds, a public library, and a Sahulat Bazaar.

Additionally, the Sports Department submitted a proposal to upgrade playgrounds across nine government schools into modern facilities through a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model.

Directing the allied departments to expedite progress on provincial welfare initiatives including the Suthra Punjab programme, the deputy commissioner instructed all assistant commissioners to submit detailed feasibility reports within two days to launch practical execution without delay.

He emphasized that close inter-departmental coordination remained vital to building a cleaner, greener, and better-equipped urban environment for citizens.

The meeting was attended by all Assistant Commissioners, the Chief Officer District Council, Secretary Regional Transport Authority (RTA), and representatives from the Sports Department, Sahulat Bazaar Authority, and other allied departments.

Dera ismail khan: Rescue 1122 Lakki Marwat responded to 145 emergencies during the past week, providing timely emergency services and medical assistance to residents across the district.

According to the weekly report issued here on Monday, the emergency service operated under the directives of Director General Rescue 1122 Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Shah Fahad and Director Operations South Region Muhammad Arif Khattak, with District Emergency Officer Bilal Afridi supervising rescue operations.

During the reporting period, Rescue 1122 received a total of 2, 846 calls, including 1, 427 fake or unnecessary calls and 1, 268 informational calls.

The report stated that rescue teams responded to 123 medical emergencies, 16 road traffic accidents, five incidents involving fights and gunshot injuries, and two fire incidents. A total of 145 patients were safely shifted to hospitals, while several others received first aid and emergency medical treatment at the scene.

Rescue 1122 also continued its inter-district referral service, responding to 34 referral emergencies during the week.

Of these, nine patients were transported within the district, while 25 patients were shifted to hospitals in other districts.

Overall, 35 patients benefited from the referral service during the period.

Faisalabad: Punjab’s traditional sport of Kabaddi is set to take center stage next month as “CM Punjab Kabaddi Series” will bring together leading Kabaddi players from different areas in a high-profile competition aimed at reviving indigenous sports, promoting healthy recreational activities and discovering emerging talent.

According to a spokesman of sports department, the month-long Kabaddi series, scheduled from August 02 to August 23, 2026 will feature eight major contests at different sites of the district under the banner of “CM Punjab Kabaddi Series”.

The tournament is expected to attract large crowds of Kabaddi enthusiasts and provide a vibrant platform for seasoned players as well as young competitors to showcase their skills.

According to the event schedule, the opening bout would be held on August 02 at Sports Stadium Chak No. 188-RB.

The second event will take place on August 07 at Chak No. 86-GB Garala whereas Faisalabad City would witness Kabaddi competitions on August 08-09, 2026.

On August 13, another major competition will be organized at Chak No. 208-RB, featuring leading Kabaddi players in the main event.

The Kabaddi caravan will move to Chak No. 84-JB Sarshmeer on August 14, where organizer Asim Tarar will host the main contest featuring prominent Kabaddi players.

Another significant competition is scheduled for August 16 at Chak No. 225-RB Malkhanwala whereas next competitions would be held at Chak 75 Lohkay on August 21 and at Chak No. 8-JB Panjgarain on August 23, 2026.

The sports department would also organize a “Mega Dangal” at Chak No. 209-RB on September 06, 2026 to mark Yaum-e-Difa, he added.

The sports circles have welcomed the initiative, describing it as a positive step towards preserving Punjab’s rich Kabaddi heritage, encouraging youth participation in traditional games and providing local Kabaddi players with wide recognition through these competitions.

Lodhran: A three-day Mango Festival 2026 concluded with a grand closing ceremony held at the Fruit and Vegetable Market.

The festival featured a wide range of attractions, including mango exhibition showcasing South Punjab’s

renowned mango varieties, decorative lighting, family entertainment activities, a food court, puppet and magic shows, and live cultural performances.

Children actively participated in national song competitions, musical chairs, and various games throughout the festival.

Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Ashraf attended the closing ceremony as the chief guest. Guests of honor included Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) and Administrator Municipal Committee Liaqat Ali Gilani, prominent mango grower Jafar Raza, Saifuddin Saifi, and Shaukat Raza.

The festival also featured performances by puppet artists, poets, and local singers, while visitors showed keen interest in the diverse varieties of mangoes on display.

Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Ashraf appreciated the successful organization of the mega entertainment event and said it highlighted not only the delicious taste of Pakistan’s famous mangoes but also the warmth, hospitality, and genuine spirit of the Pakistani people.

He added that the enthusiastic participation of citizens reflected the vibrant and lively culture of Lodhran and assured that similar events would be organized in the future.

Additional Deputy Commissioner Liaqat Ali Gilani praised the overwhelming public response and thanked all individuals and organizations who contributed to the successful organization of the festival.

At the conclusion of the ceremony, Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Ashraf distributed commemorative shields among the organizers, mango growers and others.
