Peshawar: Inspector General of Police Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Zulfiqar Hameed on Friday awarded cash prizes and commendation certificates to police officers and personnel from Peshawar, Mardan, Charsadda, Karak and Dera Ismail Khan for demonstrating exceptional performance in operations against terrorists, target killers, murderers, robbers and other dangerous criminals.
The awards were presented at a ceremony held here at the Central Police Office.
Peshawar police personnel were rewarded for a successful intelligence-based operation against a gang of proclaimed and dangerous criminals, during which they demonstrated professional courage while responding to firing by the suspects.
Mardan police officers and personnel were honoured for arresting suspects wanted by Islamabad Police, while Charsadda police were recognised for apprehending a dangerous criminal and robber wanted in connection with the murder of Islamabad businessman and Toyota showroom owner Amir Awan.
Karak and Kohat police teams were also rewarded for a joint intelligence-based operation in Karak during which four key members of a terrorist group were killed following an intense exchange of fire.
The slain militants were reportedly involved in several serious crimes and terrorist activities, including an attack on martyred SHO Umar Nawaz.
Dera Ismail Khan police personnel were awarded for arresting three robbery suspects and recovering the entire looted amount of Rs19.39 million.
Speaking on the occasion, IGP Zulfiqar Hameed appreciated the courage, dedication and professional commitment of the award recipients.
He said the KP Police was facing serious challenges in maintaining law and order but was confronting them with courage and determination.
The IGP said the successful and result-oriented operations carried out by the awarded personnel were exemplary and expressed the hope that they would continue serving the public and the country with the same dedication, bravery and honesty.
Additional IGs Headquarters Abbas Ahsan and Investigation Alam Shinwari, DIG Headquarters Abbas Majeed Marwat and Principal Staff Officer to the IGP Ahmad Shah were also present at the ceremony.
