Sargodha: The Faisalabad Electric Supply Company (FESCO) caught 15 individuals involved in power pilferage and got registered 29 cases during its ongoing crackdown against electricity theft.

A FESCO spokesperson said on Thursday that task force teams conducted raids within the circle to catch power pilferers. The authorities arrested one individual in Sargodha City, registered three cases against consumers in Shahpur, and apprehended five thieves caught red-handed while stealing electricity through unauthorized connections and tampering with meters.

Sargodha: Deputy Commissioner Khushab Dr Jahanzeb Hussain Labar on Monday paid a surprise visit to Kalma Chowk, Chhatri Chowk, Kabli Gate and adjoining areas to inspect the ongoing beautification works being carried out under the Punjab Development Programme.

According to the official spokesperson here, during the visit, Assistant Director Punjab Development Programme Qasim Lali and CEO Municipal Committee Khushab Sundas Rabail briefed the deputy commissioner on the progress of the projects.

Dr Labar inspected the installation of tuff tiles and concrete slabs on Chhatri Chowk and Tehsil Office Road, besides reviewing the construction of drains and the drainage system being developed to improve rainwater disposal during the monsoon season.

The DC directed the relevant officials to ensure the use of high-quality construction materials, emphasizing that no compromise would be tolerated on the quality of work.

He also instructed the departments concerned to complete all beautification projects within the stipulated timeframe.

He further stated that the ongoing works under the Punjab Development Programme would be monitored on a daily basis and that he would personally supervise the progress to ensure timely completion and adherence to quality standards.

Sargodha: The police arrested 15 accused during a crackdown in the district on Monday. A spokesman said that police parties from different police stations raided various localities and arrested Khalid, Khaleel, Asghar, Nouman, Naveed, Nasrullah, Muhammad Ashfaq, Muhammad Aslam, Tariq, Waqas, Waleed and others. Police also recovered 2-kg hashish, 2-kg opium, 231 litres of liquor, nine pistols, nine guns and 145 rounds.

Dera ismail khan: The Peshawar Electric Supply Company (PESCO)on Monday carried out a major operation against electricity theft in Basti Lakhra Himmat, falling under the 11KV Mandhran Feeder of Mandhran Sub-Division, Rural Division, Dera Ismail Khan, disconnecting dozens of illegal power connections and removing unauthorized electricity infrastructure.

According to details, the operation was conducted under the supervision of Superintending Engineer Hizbullah Khan, Executive Engineer (XEN) Rural Maaz Ahmad, Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) Mandhran RA Irfan, along with PESCO field staff.

During the operation, the authorities disconnected 22 illegal electricity connections, removed two 50-kVA transformers, and dismantled 24 low-tension (LT) spans and three high-tension (HT) spans installed in violation of electricity regulations.

PESCO reiterated its commitment to continuing operations against electricity theft and recovery of outstanding dues to ensure uninterrupted and lawful power supply across the region.

The pesco officials urged consumers to avoid illegal use of electricity, clear their outstanding bills on time, and cooperate with company in its efforts to curb power theft and improve the electricity distribution system.

Peshawar: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Food Authority has launched a province-wide crackdown against the adulterated milk mafia, seizing and destroying thousands of litres of substandard milk during inspections across the province.

According to the Food Authority spokesperson, 3,500 litres of chemically adulterated milk were destroyed at the Rashakai Interchange in Mardan after laboratory tests confirmed it was unsafe for human consumption.

In Peshawar, authorities confiscated and destroyed 40 litres of water-adulterated milk and 300 kilograms of mislabelled ice cream. In Charsadda, another 30 litres of substandard milk and 150 kilograms of ice cream were seized and disposed of.

The spokesperson said fines were also imposed on the owners found involved in food adulteration and violations of food safety regulations, reaffirming the Food Authority’s commitment to ensuring the supply of safe and quality food to consumers across the province.

Faisalabad: Divisional Commissioner Madam Musarrat Jabeen on Monday directed newly appointed Deputy Commissioner (DC) Faisalabad Muhammad Nauman Siddique to uphold the highest standards of public service, transparency and merit while ensuring effective implementation of Punjab government’s development and governance agenda across the district.

The directions came during a meeting between the divisional commissioner and the newly posted deputy commissioner at the Commissioner’s Office, where they reviewed ongoing development projects, public welfare initiatives, good governance measures and strategies for the effective execution of government policies.

Congratulating Muhammad Nauman Siddique on assuming his new responsibilities, the divisional commissioner stressed the need to maintain excellence in public service delivery and preserve the best administrative traditions through transparency, accountability and merit-based governance.

She said that in line with the vision of Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Maryam Nawaz, the divisional and district administrations would continue working in close coordination to provide quality public services, resolve civic issues promptly, expedite development projects and further strengthen the culture of good governance.

She underscored the importance of ensuring timely completion of public development schemes and improving administrative efficiency so that citizens could directly benefit from the government’s reform initiatives and welfare programs.

Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Nauman Siddique assured the divisional commissioner that all directives and policies of Punjab government would be implemented in an effective and timely manner. He said that district administration would accord top priority to overall development of Faisalabad, public welfare, improvement of basic civic amenities, prompt resolution of citizens’ problems and efficient delivery of public services.

He further said that special focus would be placed on achieving all Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) set by the Punjab government within the stipulated timelines.

The coordination among all government departments would be further strengthened through effective communication and teamwork to improve administrative performance and ensure dissemination of full benefits of good governance and efficient public administration to the people, he added.
