Khanewal: The Punjab Sahulat Bazaar Authority, in collaboration with the PERA Force, launched a large-scale operation against encroachments to ensure the smooth functioning of the Juma Bazaar at Sahulat Bazaar.

During the operation, Investigation Officer Mudassar Ishaq, accompanied by Sahulat Bazaar administration official Engineer Abdul Rehman Qulzam, inspected various parts of the city and removed illegal stalls and temporary structures set up on public spaces. Several violators were fined during the crackdown.

The officials directed vendors to relocate their Juma Bazaar stalls to the designated Sahulat Bazaar instead of operating at unauthorized locations across the city.

Speaking on the occasion, Punjab Sahulat Bazaar Authority official Jawad Zaheer and Engineer Abdul Rehman said the relocation of vendors to Sahulat Bazaar would promote business activity and create better livelihood opportunities for traders. They added that the initiative would also provide citizens with a more organized, convenient and comfortable shopping environment.

Investigation Officer Mudassar Ishaq assured traders that every possible measure would be taken to further improve facilities at the market and facilitate both vendors and customers.

He also appreciated the efforts of the Sahulat Bazaar management, particularly Jawad Zaheer and Engineer Abdul Rehman, for their commitment to making the market fully operational and ensuring better services for the public.

Traders welcomed the decision to hold the Juma Bazaar at Sahulat Bazaar and praised the facilities provided by the management. They expressed confidence that the move would enhance business opportunities and attract more customers.

Vehari: The Green Bus Service has officially commenced operations on the Vehari-Burewala and Vehari-Tibba Sultanpur routes, providing residents with a modern, comfortable and affordable public transport facility.

Launched with a fleet of 11 buses, the service is aimed at improving connectivity between the two routes and facilitating daily commuters, students, traders, government employees and the general public.

Speaking on the occasion, the participants hailed the launch of the Green Bus Service as a significant milestone in improving public transport facilities in the region.

They said the service would provide passengers with safe, comfortable and reliable transportation while making travel between Burewala and Vehari more convenient and accessible.

Secretary Regional Transport Authority Kamran Anwar said the Vehari-Burewala and Vehari-Tibba Sultanpur services form part of a comprehensive public transport expansion plan for the region.

He said the project is being implemented in phases, with these two routes becoming operational in the first phase. He added that five buses have been allocated to each route, ensuring regular operations and greater convenience for commuters.

Kamran Anwar said the Vehari-Burewala route has an estimated travel time of 70 minutes, while buses will operate at 80-minute intervals. He added that the Vehari-Tibba Sultanpur route has also been launched with five buses to provide a regular and dependable service for passengers. He said the initiative is aimed at enhancing regional connectivity, easing travel difficulties and providing the public with an efficient, affordable and modern transport system.

The launch of the Green Bus Service marks an important step towards strengthening the public transport network in Vehari district and meeting the growing transportation needs of the local population.

Sialkot: Government College Women University Sialkot (GCWUS) on Friday paid a rich tribute to Fatima Jinnah and marked her birth anniversary with great respect, a release said.

Today marks the birth anniversary of Madar-e-Millat (Mother of the Nation), Ms. Fatima Jinnah. She was born on 31 July 1893 in Karachi. She was a prominent leader of the Pakistan Movement and the sister of the Founder of Pakistan, Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah.

Ms. Fatima Jinnah was an inspiring leader who stood firmly beside Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah throughout the Pakistan Movement. Her significant contributions included awakening political awareness among Muslim women, actively supporting the Pakistan Movement, and caring for refugees after the creation of Pakistan.

She earned a degree in Dental Surgery from Calcutta and later established her own dental clinic in Bombay.

She brought together Muslim women of the Indian subcontinent on a common platform, encouraging them to become politically and socially active. In 1937, she founded the All India Muslim League Women’s Committee, which played a vital role in spreading the message of the Pakistan Movement among women.

After the establishment of Pakistan in 1947, she worked tirelessly for the rehabilitation of refugees and the provision of medical assistance.

In 1951, Ms. Fatima Jinnah inaugurated the Government College for Women, Sialkot. In 2013, the institution was upgraded to the Government College Women University Sialkot. Today, it is the only university in Sialkot District and the only women’s university in the Gujranwala Division, with more than 11,000 female students currently enrolled.

Bahawalpur: A girl lost her life in firing that happened due to a dispute pertaining to local cricket match in village Miani located within jurisdiction of Sadar police station.

Police sources said that two groups of local cricketers fought against each other over a dispute pertaining to a local cricket match. ‘One of the group opened indiscriminate aerial firing,’ they said, adding that a passersby girl received bullet wounds which caused her death on-the-spot.

The victim girl was identified as 13-year-old, Alisha, a resident of village Miani. Soon after receiving information, a police team of Sadar police station reached the scene. The body of the girl was shifted to hospital for postmortem and legal formalities. The police have registered a case against the suspects and launched operation to trace them and arrest them. Further probe was in process.

Peshawar: Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi has termed the reported exclusion of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa from the South Asian Games 2027 as regrettable, saying the move could negatively affect the province’s positive image and sports development.

He expressed these views during a meeting with Chairman Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Olympic Association and former provincial minister Aqil Shah at the Governor House.

The meeting discussed the promotion of sports, development of sports infrastructure in the province and preparations related to the South Asian Games 2027.

Aqil Shah informed the Governor about his concerns over the alleged exclusion of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa from hosting events of the South Asian Games 2027.

Governor Kundi said the Peshawar Sports Complex possessed international-standard facilities and had the capacity to successfully host various events of the regional games.

He said that while Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was confronting the challenge of terrorism, ignoring the province by the Pakistan Olympic Association was unfortunate and detrimental to promoting sports and projecting its positive image.

The Governor said holding international sporting events in Peshawar would help improve the province’s soft image and send a positive message to the world that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was a centre of peace, sports and talented youth.

Reaffirming his commitment to sports development, Governor Kundi said promotion of sports and encouragement of young talent remained among his top priorities.

He also highlighted the ongoing initiatives under the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Champions League and assured that every possible support would be extended to expand sporting activities across the province.

Sukkur: Department of Cardiology at the Gambat Institute of Medical Sciences (GIMS) in Friday organized an academic program for medical students under the supervision of renowned consultant cardiologist and interventionist, Dr. Niaz Abbasi.

The session aimed at enhancing clinical knowledge and professional grooming of young doctors. Medical students participated with great enthusiasm and engaged in a detailed discussion on key concepts of cardiology and modern interventional practices.

The interactive session provided a valuable platform for learning, knowledge-sharing, and question-answer interaction between the consultant and students. At the conclusion of the program, souvenirs were distributed among the speakers as a token of appreciation for their contribution.

Participants lauded the efforts of Dr. Niaz Abbasi and the Cardiology Department of GIMS for organizing such an informative and academically enriching activity and termed it highly beneficial for the future doctors.
