Peshawar: A case has been registered with the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) Kohat over the terrorist attack on Khazina Banda checkpoint in Hangu. The FIR has been filed under the Anti-Terrorism Act along with 16 other legal provisions on Friday.

According to police, the FIR was lodged on the complaint of the Station House Officer (SHO) of CTD Kohat and the department has launched a detailed investigation into the incident.

The FIR states that the attackers used heavy and automatic weapons during the assault on the Khazina Banda checkpoint. The militants reportedly initiated the attack with a drone strike on a police post established at the Government School in Khazina, injuring two police personnel.

Police said a reinforcement team led by a DSP was dispatched to the scene, but the convoy came under another attack involving drones and heavy weapons.

During the assault, official vehicles, including an Armoured Personnel Carrier (APC) were damaged and the attackers also fled with police weapons.

Following the incident, security forces launched a search and clearance operation in the area, which remains ongoing.

According to officials, the terrorist attack resulted in the martyrdom of 11 police personnel, while 28 others sustained injuries.

Bahawalpur: A woman has lost her life and her two-year-old daughter was injured when a motorcycle rickshaw overturned after veering off the road near in Chak No. 105/DB Tehsil Yazman.

According to Rescue 1122 report, a motorcycle rickshaw was travelling from Yazman to Cholistani area when the driver reportedly lost control, causing the vehicle to leave the road and overturn. ‘As a result of the accident, Shehnaz Bibi, wife of Ramzan, aged 50 and a resident of Bhata Colony, Yazman, sustained a severe open head injury and died at the scene,’ they said, adding that her two-year-old daughter, Arman Fatima, daughter of Ali Haider, suffered a deep cut to her right leg.

Rescue personnel shifted the deceased woman’s body and the injured child to Tehsil Headquarters (THQ) Hospital Yazman. The body of the woman was handed over to the heirs. Doctors have been providing medical treatment to the little baby.

Sialkot: Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Awais Mushtaq and District Police Officer Dost Muhammad on Friday inspected the route of the main Chehlum procession to review security and administrative arrangements.

According to a spokesperson for the Deputy Commissioner’s Office, the procession will start and conclude at Adda Pasrurian after passing through its traditional route. Assistant Commissioner (City) Rana Safdar Shabbir, Municipal Corporation Chief Officer Zubair Wattoo, and officers of WASA, Rescue 1122, Police and other departments also attended the inspection.

The deputy commissioner directed the authorities to complete cleanliness arrangements, ensure uninterrupted streetlights and sewerage services, and make immediate rainwater drainage arrangements in case of rainfall. He also instructed WASA and the Municipal Corporation to keep emergency staff and machinery on standby.

The DC and DPO reviewed police deployment, CCTV monitoring, traffic management and other security measures, directing all departments to ensure foolproof security, effective coordination and a peaceful environment for mourners.

Peshawar: The Excise, Taxation and Narcotics Control Department Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, through its Excise Bureau of Intelligence and Investigation (EBI), Squad B-I, carried out a successful intelligence-based operation near H Gol Chowk here and arrested an ice smuggler identified as Bin Yamin, son of Sawad Khan, a resident of District Bajaur.

According to Excise Dept on Friday, during the operation, the squad recovered 1,010 grams of Ice (crystal methamphetamine) from the possession of the accused.

He was arrested on the spot and an FIR has been registered at Excise Police Station Peshawar. Further investigation and legal proceedings are underway.

According to the Excise Department, intelligence-based operations against drug traffickers, particularly those involved in the smuggling of Ice will continue across the province without interruption.

The department remains committed to eliminating the menace of narcotics and will continue to take all possible measures to protect society from the harmful effects of drugs.

Attock: The police killed two alleged proclaimed offenders during a joint operation and rescued a woman abducted for a Rs 50 million ransom, the police said on Friday.

The operation, carried out by the Crime Control Department (CCD) in cooperation with Haripur police, targeted suspects accused of involvement in kidnapping for ransom, terrorism, armed robbery, targeted killings, sexual assault and extortion.

The police said the raid took place in the Dhenda Bypass area within the jurisdiction of Khallabat police station, Haripur district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.

The operation was led by CCD Attock District Officer, Yasir Matloob Kiani and Inspector Syed Imran Haider Kazmi, with support from Haripur Police and the Elite Police Force.

According to police, the main target, identified as Zarghamullah, his father Khalid Mehmood Khan allegedly opened fire on security personnel when the police team attempted to arrest them.

The police said the exchange of gunfire lasted for more than two hours.

They that the suspects used members of their own family as human shields during the confrontation, but officers safely evacuated the family before continuing the operation.

After the shooting ended, the police recovered the bodies of Zarghamullah and his father. Several other alleged accomplices escaped during the exchange of fire, and a search operation was launched to trace them.

In a follow-up intelligence-based raid on another hideout linked to the suspects, the police rescued a woman who had allegedly been kidnapped in a case registered on July 14 at Attock City Police Station.

The victim was allegedly abducted for a ransom demand of 50 million rupees, the police said.

They said the area was sealed off during the operation to minimise risks to civilians. The bodies were transferred to the Trauma Centre in Haripur for post-mortem examinations, while investigations continued.

District Police Officer Attock eulogized the CCD team for its handling of the operation. Senior CCD Punjab officials also commended the officers for their professionalism and bravery.

Gujrat: Deputy Commissioner Gujrat Noor-ul-Ain Qureshi chaired a meeting of the District Petrol Pump Committee to review applications for the establishment of new petrol pumps in the district.

According to official sources, the committee approved the establishment of a new petrol pump in Sarai Alamgir after all legal and technical requirements were found to be complete.

The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Qurrat-ul-Ain, Chief Officer Municipal Committee Sarai Alamgir Azmat Warraich and officers of the relevant departments.

The deputy commissioner directed the Chief Officer of the Municipal Committee Sarai Alamgir to ensure the installation of electric vehicle (EV) charging ports at the new petrol pump to facilitate the growing use of electric vehicles.
