Hangu: Acting on directives of District Police Officer (DPO) Hangu Khan Zeb Mohmand, the district police on Sunday have intensified an indiscriminate crackdown against hawala-hundi and illegal money changing activities across the district.

In this regard, City Police Station SHO Fayyaz Khan conducted a raid on the basis of secret information and arrested a suspect, identified as Irfanullah, a resident of Bilyamina, for his involvement in an illegal hawala-hundi network.

Police recovered Rs 1.365 million from the possession of the accused, which was allegedly being used for unlawful money transfers causing serious damage to the national economy.

A case has been registered against the suspect under Section 5/23 of the FIA Act 1947, and he has been handed over to the FIA team for further legal proceedings.

DPO Hangu Khan Zeb Mohmand reiterated that action against hawala-hundi operators, illegal money changers and elements harming the country’s economy would be further intensified, warning that no one would be allowed to operate above the law.
