Mirpur (ajk): Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Minister for Elementary and Secondary Education Engineer Umair Naeem Advocate has welcomed Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif’s address to the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly, saying his clear articulation of the Kashmir dispute and reaffirmation of Pakistan’s political, diplomatic and moral support for the Kashmiri people effectively highlighted their right to self-determination at the international forum
In his reaction to the Prime Minister’s address, the minister said in a statement, issued on Sunday that Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif had forcefully supported the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination and effectively articulated the sentiments and concerns of the Muslim world at the international forum.
He said the Prime Minister’s address had boosted the morale of the Kashmiri people and further strengthened their confidence that Pakistan would continue to stand by them in every difficult situation.
The minister said Pakistan had remained a genuine advocate and longstanding supporter of the Kashmiri people, adding that the people of Kashmir had determined their political destiny in accordance with the principle of self-determination and their aspiration for accession to Pakistan.
Engineer Umair Naeem said the Prime Minister’s clear and unequivocal presentation of the Kashmir issue before the UN General Assembly was an important diplomatic development that would further encourage the Kashmiris struggling for their right to self-determination on the other side of the Line of Control.
He said the Kashmir dispute remained a longstanding unresolved issue in accordance with the relevant UN Security Council resolutions, and the international community had a responsibility to play an effective role in enabling the Kashmiri people to exercise their right to self-determination.
