Mirpur: Prime Minister Azad Jammu and Kashmir Iftikhar Gilani on Tuesday announced that the government was formulating a comprehensive three-to-five-year development plan for the state, with a focus on health, education, employment, roads, water supply and other basic facilities. The government has also been pursuing measures for balanced development and improved public service delivery across AJK.
Addressing a public gathering hosted by Speaker AJK Legislative Assembly Chaudhry Tariq Farooq at the party’s district secretariat in Bhimber, the prime minister said clear timelines would be set for the commencement and completion of development projects to ensure their timely implementation. He also announced that Kalari would be accorded the status of a subdivision, saying the government was committed to addressing public issues and promoting balanced development across the region.
PM Gilani appreciated the elected representatives of Bhimber for their role in resolving issues faced by local residents. He said the government’s development agenda included improving public services and infrastructure, while recent government planning has also focused on institutional performance and timely completion of ongoing projects.
He said the sacrifices of the Pakistan Army and other law-enforcement agencies had helped maintain peace in Azad Kashmir. Ministers Col. (retd) Waqar Ahmed Noor and Raja Saqib Majeed, Advocate Umair Naeem, Assembly Member Chaudhry Muhammad Razzaq and other local leaders also addressed the gathering. PML-N Gujranwala Division President and former MNA Chaudhry Abid Raza and former Information Minister Mushtaq Minhas also attended the event.
