Pakistan to host two Asian Golf Tournament in 2025

Islamabad: The Pakistan Golf Federation (PGF) announced on Sunday it will host two Asian Development Tour (ADT) golf championships at Rumanza Golf and Country Club in Multan this September.

According to a press release, the last ADT event in Pakistan was held in Lahore in October 2019, marking a successful chapter in the nation's golfing history.

The PGF is eager to continue promoting professional golf by hosting another ADT event in Multan, showcasing Pakistan's potential as a top destination for international golf tournaments.

In an exciting addition, Pakistan will host two more ADT events in September 2025: the CNS ADT Open Golf Championship and the Pakistan ADT Open Golf Championship.

These tournaments reflect the country's growing presence in the global golf scene and its commitment to providing opportunities for professional players.

The Pakistan Golf Federation (PGF) expresses its sincere thanks to Rumanza Golf and Country Club and DHA Multan for their generous support in sponsoring the championship. Their contributions are vital in making this prestigious event happen and in promoting golf as a sport in Pakistan.

Four killed in bus and tractor trolley collision in Chichawatni

Islamabad: Four people lost their lives on Sunday in a crash between a bus and a tractor trolley on Burewala Road in Chichawatni.

According to a private news channel and rescue sources, two other passengers were injured in the accident.

The rescue team had taken the injured to the hospital along with the bodies of the deceased.

Grace day announces for candidates who missed police constable interviews

Sukkur: The Sukkur Range Police Department has announced a grace day for candidates who were unable to appear for their interview for the post of Police Constable (BPS-07) as per the original schedule.

According to a release issued here on Sunday, this grace day is scheduled for January 20, 2025, and will take place at the DIGP Office, Sukkur Range. Candidates have been reminded that admit slips are mandatory for attending the interview. No candidate will be allowed entry without their admit slip.

This one-time opportunity has been arranged to ensure that all eligible candidates have a fair chance to participate in the recruitment process.

AIOU announces schedule of entry test for admission in MS, MPhil, PhD programs

Islamabad: Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) has announced the schedule of entry tests for admissions into MS/MPhil and PhD programs.

According to the schedule, the entry test for Faculty of Education will be held on February 24, the Faculty of Social Sciences on February 25, Faculty of Arabic and Islamic Studies on February 26, and Faculty of Sciences on February 27, 2025, said a press release.

The entry tests will take place simultaneously at 9: 00am at the university's main campus in Islamabad and regional centers in Gilgit-Baltistan, Multan, Karachi, and Quetta.

Students can choose to appear at any center according to their convenience and preference.

It is noteworthy that the deadline for submission of admission forms for these programs is February 17.

Admission forms and prospectuses are available on the university's website, and applications can only be submitted online. Passing the entry test and succeeding in the interview are mandatory for securing admission to these programs.

The University has also advertised admission to various BS programmes, which will be granted purely on merit basis, with no entry test or interview.

Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Nasir Mahmood has issued special directives to ensure transparency and adherence to merit during the admission process.

Chairman WSSC-D I Khan seeks public cooperation for cleanliness

Dera ismail khan: Chairman Board of Directors, Water and Sanitation Services Company (WSSC-D I Khan) Naimat Ullah Khan made a fervent appeal for public cooperation in maintaining and further improving the sanitary conditions in the city.

He expressed these words during the meeting held here.

A detailed review of the cleanliness operation and complaint management system was done in the meeting.

During the meeting, Chairman Board of Directors WSSC-D I Khan Naimat Ullah Khan instructed to strictly implement all cleanliness schedules.

Instructions to involve public representatives in all cleanliness operations were also issued. The process of cleaning sewer lines should be accelerated so that drainage problems can be resolved immediately.

The Chairman directed all sanitary inspectors to ensure the quality of cleanliness within their limits and immediate action should be taken on complaints received from the public. He further directed to conduct regular field visits to assess the ground realities and ensure prompt resolution of issues.

He emphasised the need for public participation to make cleanliness a mass movement.

He called on officials to involve citizens, prominent personalities, elected representatives and religious leaders to make cleanliness a collective effort.

Meanwhile, the officials of WSSC-D I Khan hold meetings with the elected representatives of various village and neighbourhood councils and discuss the cleanliness operations.

During the meetings, company officials and public representatives agreed that the responsibility for cleanliness would now be based at the village and neighbourhood council level instead of the union council.

Begum Afifa Mamdot passes away

Islamabad: Former Federal Minister for Health, Social Welfare and Special Education, and special representative of Pakistan at the United Nations, Begum Afifa Mamdot has passed away on Sunday.

Begum Afifa Mamdot was the daughter of Nawab Sir Muhammad Jamal Khan Leghari, who represented Dera Ghazi Khan in the Punjab Legislative Council in 1921.

Leghari had the honour to chair the first session of the West Punjab Legislative Assembly after Independence.

Begum Afifa Mamdot was married to Nawabzada Zulfiqar Ali Khan Mamdot, the son of Nawab Shahnawaz Khan of Mamdot and one of the chief stewards of the Pakistan Movement, and the Muslim League.

Her Qul Khwani will be held on Tuesday, the 21st of January, at 3 p.m.
