Hyderabad:Alkhidmat Foundation Sanghar organized an awareness rally in Tando Adam on Thursday to mark National Disaster Awareness Day and sensitized people to disaster preparedness and safety measures.
The rally started from Muhammadi Chowk and concluded at Press Club. It was led by Tauheed Shah, Abdul Ghafoor Ansari, Mushtaq Adil and Bilal Ghori. A large number of Alkhidmat Foundation officials and volunteers, citizens and people from different walks of life participated in the rally.
The speakers highlighted the importance of taking precautionary measures, particularly during earthquakes and other natural disasters, and stressed the need for advance preparedness and public awareness.
They said that although natural disasters could not be prevented, their impact could be reduced through timely preparedness, precautionary measures and greater public awareness.
The rally concluded with prayers for those who lost their lives in the devastating earthquake of Oct 8, 2005. The participants also urged citizens to familiarize themselves with safety measures and essential information to deal with emergencies caused by natural disasters.
