Islamabad: Speaker of National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq on Wednesday reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to further strengthening its longstanding cordial relations with Australia.
During a meeting with Australian High Commissioner Mr. Timothy Kane at the Parliament House, said a news release.
The meeting focused on bilateral relations, regional and global developments and avenues for enhancing cooperation between the two countries.
Both sides agreed to deepen friendly ties and expand collaboration across multiple sectors.
Highlighting Pakistan’s vast mineral resources, the Speaker said that the country continues to attract strong interest from international investors.
He emphasized that parliamentary diplomacy plays a crucial role in strengthening bilateral relations and said closer engagement between the legislatures of Pakistan and Australia could further enhance mutual understanding.
Ayaz Sadiq also underscored Pakistan’s significant investment potential, particularly in the livestock and mining sectors.
He said that the Pakistan-Australia Parliamentary Friendship Group in the National Assembly is actively contributing to the promotion of inter-parliamentary cooperation.
Australian High Commissioner Mr. Timothy Kane praised the Pakistani nation for its resilience and hospitality, and acknowledged the important contributions of the Pakistani diaspora to Australia’s development.
He expressed keen interest in Australian investment in Pakistan’s mining sector and reaffirmed Australia’s strong commitment to its longstanding and friendly relations with Pakistan.
The High Commissioner also appreciated Pakistan’s democratic system and the vital role played by its parliamentary institutions.
