SIALKOT: Provincial Minister for Local Government Punjab Zeeshan Rafique has said that temporary cattle markets have been established across the province for buying and selling sacrificial animals.
He expressed these views along with Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Zulqarnain during a visit to Daska, Sambrial and Golophala Ugoki Road. According to the vision of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, the provincial government and the district administration are using all available resources to ensure the provision of best facilities to the people for buying and selling in these markets. Steps have also been taken to protect the animals brought for sale from all kinds of weather effects and diseases, the minister added.
Member Provincial Assembly (MPA) Rana Abdul Sattar and Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Revenue Muhammad Iqbal were also present on this occasion.
The minister said that Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz had given clear instructions that no fee would be charged in temporary cattle markets. “Co
unters for transactions through Rast Account and Easy Paisa have been set up by the district administration in collaboration with State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) in the cattle market, Sialkot, with the aim to secure the transactions,” he added.
He said that awnings, clean drinking water, waiting room and special cleaning arrangements had been established at the sale points for sacrificial animals in the markets, as well as veterinary medical camps and emergency rescue stations of the Live and Dairy Development Department.
He directed that an organized system of parking should be made in cattle markets and parking should be at a distance from the road; the facility of public washrooms should be provided and back-up generators should be arranged.
He said that the administration of all districts has been instructed to keep the livestock check posts active at the entrances and after checking and spraying the sacrificial animals, cattle will be allowed to be brought to the markets. He said that the administration
of all districts, especially solid waste institutions, have been instructed to prepare a comprehensive plan regarding cleanliness on Eid-ul-Azha and there will be a zero waste policy till the third day of Eid.
Earlier, Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Zulqarnain gave a briefing to the minister about the number of livestock markets in Sialkot district, security, cleanliness, traffic, facilities and arrangements including the establishment of emergency counters.
