Faisalabad: The Weights and Measures Department (WandMD) has informed all factory owners, managers, and shopkeepers to obtain receipts or verifications regarding weights and measures exclusively from the department’s authorized inspectors only. District Officer (Industries) Muhammad Irfan said here Tuesday that Imtiaz Ali Shah, Osama Rauf, Abdul Mannan, and Muhammad Naqqash were currently serving as inspectors in Faisalabad district.
He said that it had been noted that certain unauthorized individuals-primarily repairers-were posing as government inspectors and collecting official departmental fees from the public and in some cases, the collected fee was not even deposited into the government treasury. He directed all concerned parties not to pay official fees to any unauthorized person and to secure receipts or verifications only from the aforementioned authorized inspectors. He clarified that action had already been taken against some people and they had been handed over to the police, therefore, the public was urged to immediately report any such person to the department so that legal action could be initiated.
