Hyderabad: A tragic accident on the Indus Highway near Sann on Friday morning claimed the lives of five people and left six others injured when two vehicles collided head-on.

According to details, the crash occurred due to one vehicle traveling in the wrong direction, resulting in a severe collision. Five passengers in the car died on the spot, while six others sustained serious injuries.

Local residents and motorway police rushed to the scene and shifted the injured and dead bodies to the hospitals.

The deceased were identified as Khawaja Nadeem, Syed Jan Ali Shah, Khawaja Ali Kazim, Zain Turabi and Abdul Ghani Mangrio.

The injured include Bilal Niazi, Ahsan Niazi, Majid Niazi, Muhammad Ishaq Niazi, Aziz Bhatti and Muhammad Shabbir.

The police have taken both the vehicles into custody and started further investigation

Kohat: Deputy Commissioner Kohat Abdul Akram chaired a meeting Price Review Committee on Thursday to review market prices and supplies, in order to ensure a smooth and affordable Ramadan for citizens.

Representatives from the District Administration Kohat, District Food Controller, Grocery Association, Traders' Union, Ghala Mandi, Nan Bhai Association, Milk and Butchers Association and other stakeholders attended the meeting.

During the meeting, the Committee assessed the supply and demand of essential food items, adjusting prices accordingly to provide relief to both the public and businessmen. However, concerns were raised about some traders engaging in illegal profiteering by charging arbitrary prices, prompting the administration and food department officers to conduct regular market checks.

During the meeting, Deputy Commissioner Kohat Abdul Akram warned the traders to adhere strictly to the prices set by the Price Committee and display price lists prominently. He also instructed businessmen to label rice and other food items with quality marks, enabling consumers to make informed purchasing decisions.

On this occasion, the DC emphasized the importance of implementing the price list issued by the Food Department, cautioning that illegal profiteers, hoarders, and those creating artificial inflation would face stern action. He appealed to businessmen for cooperation in maintaining price stability and ensuring a peaceful Ramadan.

Peshawar: A woman lost her life, and 10 others were injured in a collision between two cars in the Matta Durshkhela area of Swat district.

According to rescue sources on Friday, the accident occurred late at night, adding that six injured including women, were transported to Matta Hospital for medical treatment.

Local sources said over speeding caused the accident.
