Peshawar: Justice SM Atiq Shah on Friday took the oath of office as the Acting Chief Justice of the Peshawar High Court.

The oath was administered by Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Faisal Karim Kundi here at Governor House.

The oath-taking ceremony was attended by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sardar Ali Amin Khan Gandapur, along with other notable dignitaries.

Judges of the Peshawar High Court, lawyers, and various other individuals also participated in the ceremony.

Peshawar: Fourteen exceptional content creators were celebrated at the prestigious KP Top Digital Awards ceremony held at Agriculture University Peshawar.

The awards recognized their outstanding contributions to the digital landscape of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), where they have skilfully utilized online platforms to spotlight the region's rich culture, heritage, and contemporary challenges.

The awards were presented during the Metrix Pakistan Youth Summit (6th Edition), a three-day event organized collaboratively by the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the Directorate of Youth Affairs, the District Youth Office Peshawar, and the Prison's Department Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The honourees included Umama Khalid, Hira Fayaz, Manayal Ahmed, Reham Alamgir, Hania Fahimi, Zahra Abbas, Tehreem Awan, Sidra Tul Muntaha, Jalal ur Rehman, Bilal Naqeeb, Haram Nadeem, Huraira Ahmad, Mian Kashif Ahmad, and Peshawar Junkies.

Hassan Nisar, CEO of Metrix Pakistan, praised the awardees, stating, 'These content creators have masterfully showcased the vibrant culture and traditions of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa while also highlighting its modern advancements and the resilience of its people. Faisalabad: Two traffickers including a woman were arrested and drugs were recovered from their possession on Friday.

According to police, a team of the organized crime unit, Lyallpur Town, on suspicion, stopped a motorcycle-riding couple in Chiniot bazaar and during search 11.3kg hashish was recovered from the motorcyclist, who was identified as Omar Daraz, and 2.5kg grams from the woman identified as Irshad Bibi.

The accused were involved in supplying drugs to different areas of the city.

Kotwali police have registered a case against the accused.

Jacobabad: A girl died here on Thursday and other material of thousands rupee burnt due to fire breakout at a house in Town, Sher Muhammad.

The rescue sources said the girls was identified as Shumaila 7 years old.

The incident took place in the area of Tehsil, Ghari.

Peshawar: A crackdown on sugar hoarders continues in the provincial capital, with authorities sealing a shop in Karkhano Market and arresting its owner.

The district administration and Food Controller conducted raids in Marhaba Market and Karkhano Bazaar on Friday to combat the recent price hikes and curb black marketing and hoarding of essential commodities.

The inspection team included Assistant Food Controller Shahid Ali, Additional Assistant Commissioner Haroon Saleem, and Food Inspector Shahid Safi.

Approximately 800 to 900 sacks of sugar were recovered during the operation, which had been stored for black marketing. The shop owner was arrested, and the shop was sealed. An FIR has been registered at the police station for further legal action.

Authorities reiterated their commitment to taking strict action against hoarders and profiteers to ensure the availability of essential goods at fair prices and prevent the public from facing hardships.
