Sohbatpur: The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) here on Thursday discarded explosive material at Kashmore road .

The official sources said a CTD's team on a tip off, conducted raid and recovered explosive material and discarded it.

The material was installed under the bridge on the main road, they added.

Sargodha: Newly-appointed District Police Officer Sargodha (DPO) Suhaib Ashraf assumed the charge of his office on Thursday.

On his arrival at Zia Shaheed Police Lines, a smartly turned out contingent of police presented him a guard of honor.The DPO laid a wreath on the memorial of police Shuhada at District Police Lines and offered 'Fateh' for the departed souls.

Later,he visited various departments of the police station.

Rawalpindi: Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Rawalpindi Beenish Fatima has directed the authorities concerned to take strict action against encroachments.

According to a City Traffic Police (CTP) spokesman, CTO during a visit to Murree Road distributed helmets among the motorcyclists and instructed the officers to take action in accordance with the law against encroachments.

Beenish Fatima visited Murree Road, Committee Chowk, Iqbal Road, Alam Khan Road, Chandni Chowk, Commercial Market and 5th Road and directed the officers to make earnest efforts to ensure smooth flow of traffic and take action against illegal parking particularly in the Commercial Market on daily basis.

The CTO said that strict legal action would be taken against the traffic rules violators and the citizens would also be facilitated while ensuring smooth flow of traffic on the city roads.

During the visit, the CTO also highlighted the importance of wearing safety helmets.

She said that the use of the helmets is extremely important to prevent loss of life in case of road accidents. All the citizens should ensure their own and others' safety and use helmets, she added.

Faisalabad: Provincial Minister for Specialized Health Punjab Khawaja Salman Rafique visited Cardiac Hospital, here on Thursday.

Secretary Specialized Health Punjab Azmat Mahmood was flanked by him. Commissioner Maryam Khan informed the minister regarding treatment facilities at Faisalabad Institute of Cardiology (FIC) and required resources.

Later, the minister chairing a meeting in the conference room said that immediate measures were being taken to overcome the shortage of doctors at the hospital besides these medical officers and post graduate trainers will also be posted.

He also directed the Executive Director to provide the lists of doctors at Children Hospital, Allied hospitals-I and II to complete human resources.

The minister said that efforts were underway to make the CM free heart surgery programme.

He said that the Punjab government was striving hard to provide best healthcare facilities at the door steps of the people under the vision of CM Punjab.

The minister also went to different sections of the hospital including the 4th floor.

The minister also visited a children's hospital on Jhang road and inspected the medical facilities.

Sargodha: The Factory Area police and Muhafiz squad on Thursday recovered a large quantity of hashish.

Police conducted raids and nabbed two drug-pushers including Ghulam Muhammad and Naseer besides recovering charas from them.

Police arrested them and sent them behind bars.
