Multan: A joint team of the Customs Enforcement and police seized fifteen truckloads of smuggled items worth over Rs 400 million in an operation at the Main Foodgrain Market in the city on Monday.

A police spokesman said that the joint team also had assistance from the intelligence agencies and was able to overpower the resistance by the law violators through their professional capabilities.

The smuggled business goods taken into custody included imported cigarettes, flavored tobacco, tobacco, betelnuts and fifteen trucks.

CPO Sadiq Ali Dogar said the operation was led by SSP Operations Kamran Amir Khan and commended

the efforts of the joint team that comprised SP cantonment Javed Tahir Majeed, DSP Abdur Rauf, SHO Faizan Qayyum and others.

Kamran Amir Khan said the success in operation was the result of cooperation between different law enforcement agencies and highlighted their combined commitment to root out illegalities and crimes from the city of saints. Operations to eliminate crime and illegal business practices would continue, he added.

Dera ismail khan: The district administration has launched a crackdown against illegal fuel agencies in Dera Ismail Khan under 'Awami-Agenda' program of the Khyber Pakhutnkwha Chief Minister.

According to district administration, Assistant Commissioner Headquarters Muhammad Faseeh Ishaq Abbasi, following the instructions of Deputy Commissioner Ms. Sarah Rehman, paid a surprise visit to bypass road to inspect fuel agencies and sealed six illegal diesel agencies.

During inspection, the assistant commissioner asked the owners of that agencies to stop their business activities otherwise strict legal action would be taken against them.

Rawalpindi: Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) while conducting 7 operations across the country managed to recover over 123 kg drugs worth over Rs 10 million and arrested three accused, said an ANF Headquarters spokesman here on Monday.

He informed that 320 grams opium was recovered from two parcels booked for Italy and Spain through a courier office in Karachi.

60 kg hashish hidden in machines sent from Peshawar through railway cargo was recovered in Natha Khan Bridge, Karachi.

10.8 kg opium and 22.8 kg hashish were recovered during a raid conducted on a house near Nankana Sahib in Lahore and an accused was arrested.

In an operation conducted in Gwadar, Balochistan, 28 kg hashish was recovered.

1.2 kg hashish was recovered from the possession of an accused rounded up on M-1 Motorway, Islamabad.

In 6th operation, 316 grams hashish was recovered from the possession of the accused netted on Adiala Road in Rawalpindi.

In 7th operation, 44 grams hashish was recovered from a parcel sent to Lahore from a private courier office in Quetta.

Cases have been registered against the arrested accused under the Narcotics Control Act and further investigations are under process.

Rawalpindi: The Wah Saddar Police on Monday claimed to have arrested a proclaimed offender wanted in a rape case.

The police had registered the case against the accused Zainul Abidin in 2023 and he had been absconding since then, a Rawalpindi Police spokesman said.

Abbottabad: Much awaited rain in the plains and snowfall in the upper regions of Hazara division have caused a sharp increase in cold across the region. The Kaghan Valley and Galyat have been blanketed in heavy snow, transforming the landscape into a picturesque winter wonderland.

In the Kaghan Valley, tourist hotspots including Shogran, Kaghan, Naran, and Battakundi have received significant snowfall. Shogran has recorded over 6 inches of snow, Kaghan Bazaar nearly 3 inches, and Naran approximately 1 foot. Similarly, Galyat has also experienced heavy snowfall, with snow-covered roads and icy conditions adding to the region's charm but also posing challenges for transportation.

Under the special directives of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur and Advisor for Tourism, Culture, and Archaeology Zahid Chun Zeb, as well as orders from Kaghan Development Authority's (KDA) Director General Shabbir Khan, snow-clearing operations have been intensified. KDA has deployed staff equipped with machinery at key points in the Kaghan Valley to clear roads, including Shogran Road, ensuring the smooth flow of vehicular traffic.

Similarly, in Galyat, the Galyat Development Authority (GDA) is actively working to ensure road accessibility and safety for residents and tourists. Key routes, including the Murree-Nathiagali Road, are being cleared of snow, while additional machinery and personnel are stationed to deal with any emergencies.

Extra staff and tourism police have been deployed at critical locations at Kawai, Shogran, Paras, Kaghan, and Galyat to assist tourists and locals. Authorities have also urged visitors to exercise caution while traveling, as icy conditions can make roads slippery.

With the snowfall enhancing the scenic beauty of both Kaghan Valley and Galyat, a surge in tourist activity is expected. However, travelers were advised to stay updated on weather conditions and road clearance to ensure a safe journey.
