Multan: West Indies captain Kraigg Brathwaite shared his thoughts on the challenging conditions his team faced during the first Test against Pakistan, which resulted in a 127-run defeat for the visitors. Addressing a press conference after the match, Brathwaite attributed the loss to the spinning nature of the pitch, which heavily favored the hosts. He acknowledged that Pakistan made full use of the home advantage by preparing a pitch that posed difficulties for the visiting batters. The West Indies skipper admitted that his team's performance could have been better, particularly in the first innings where their bowling lacked precision. He felt that restricting Pakistan to a lower total in their opening innings would have put his side in a stronger position.

However, he also pointed out that Pakistan's second-innings batting was not dominant, which created opportunities for the West Indies, though they were unable to capitalize on them. Brathwaite praised the efforts of Jomel Warrican, whose exceptional seven-wicket haul in Pakistan's second innings was a bright spot for the visitors. He expressed confidence in Warrican's abilities, hoping the spinner would deliver another strong performance in the upcoming match. Reflecting on the lessons learned, Brathwaite sounded optimistic about his team's chances in the second Test, expressing determination to stage a comeback and level the series. He also took a moment to appreciate the Multan crowd for their enthusiasm and sportsmanship. Brathwaite remarked that the fans supported both teams and their passion for cricket was inspiring. As the focus shifts to the second Test, Brathwaite was confident that the West Indies can bounce back and put up a much-improved performance against a formidable Pakistan side .

Lodhran: The verification process has been completed to provide animals to the eligible women under the 'Transfer of Livestock Assets to Widows, Divorced Women' project in order to empower rural women. Talking to reporter here on Sunday, Deputy Director Livestock, Dr Waqar Aslam, said that one cattle heifer or buffalo heifer would be given to each woman free of cost for one year. He said that animals would be given to eligible women through a draw as the data of over 900 women was sent to the department for further process. He said the urban unit had made the verification while the livestock department re-verified the rejected women. As many as 456 animals would be given to eligible beneficiaries across the district. He informed that 11,000 animals would be distributed at 13 districts across South Punjab. The women would be bound to take care of these animals for one year in own custody while the livestock department would provide artificial insemination, vaccination and other services. The pu rpose of project was to empower the rural women financially so that they could run their businesses and earn livelihood, he concluded.

Rawalpindi: Rawalpindi District Police on the directives of City Police Officer, Rawalpindi are making efforts to control kite flying and managed to arrest four kite sellers on recovery of over 552 kites and kite flying string rolls, said a police spokesman here on Sunday.

He informed, that Waris Khan police arrested three kite sellers namely Attique ur Rehman, Dawood Akhtar and Wajahat and recovered 527 kites and five kite flying string rolls.

Sadiqabad police also rounded up a kite seller, Musa and recovered 25 kite from his possession.

Separate cases have been registered against the accused and further investigations are under process.

Superintendent of Police, Rawal directed the police teams to accelerate operations against kite sellers and flyers.

Lodhran: The district administration launched a vigorous campaign to remove illegal encroachments across the district,in line with the vision of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif and under the leadership of Deputy Commissioner Dr. Lubna Nazir.

The operation focused on removing permanent encroachments including extended concrete structures, unauthorized iron sheds, and other illegal structures in public spaces.

She emphasized the establishment of Anti-Encroachment Wings in all three tehsils ,each supervised by the respective Assistant Commissioners.

The DC reaffirmed that the operations were being conducted impartially with immediate action on public complaints. Major markets and roads across the district were being cleared to enhance convenience and mobility for the public.

Multan: Unknown armed suspects opened fire and injured two citizens during an attempted dacoity near Rasheedabad Chowk,Khanewal Road here on Sunday.

According to Rescue officials, the control room received a call reporting bullet injuries in the area.The rescue team responded promptly, and local people informed them that unknown armed suspects had intercepted the victims for a robbery and fired shots during the attempt.The injured --Abdul Ghafoor and Saifullah were shifted to Nishtar hospital after providing first aid.

Peshawar: : An important meeting attended by the KP Govt spokesman, Chief Secretary and IGP Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, senior civil and police officers here Sunday decided to take strict indiscriminate action against the miscreants in Kurram district.

The spokesman of KP Government in a statement here said that the state was standing with the peaceful people, and cruel elements would be brought to justice.

The spokesman said that action against a handful of miscreants in the affected areas of Kurram was inevitable, and that the peace agreement would be implemented as per law and Pakhtuns traditions.

The security forces would be present in aid of police and civil administration as the Govt feared an entrance of miscreants among the peaceful elements and that later would be separated from the former to save them from losses.

The spokesman said that best alternate arrangements were made for the people of affected areas and the Govt has requested both the parties to help law enforcement agencies in identification of the miscreants.

The spokesman said that peace agreement was signed during a grand jirga as per pashtoon traditions to ensure peace in the area, however nefarious attempt was made by the miscreants to sabotage the peace agreement.

The Deputy Commissioner Kurram, aid convoy and personnel of securty forces were targeted by the miscreants and DC was critically wounded.

The spokesman appealed people of the affected areas to extend full cooperation with security forces to restore peace quickly there.

The spokesman said that people of Kurram wanted peace and respected the peace agreement.

He said that Govt has made sincere efforts to restore peace in the affected area through peaceful means and abide by the peace agreement.
