Attock: The district police in an operation against illegal weapons on Tuesday arrested four outlaws and recovered illegal weapons from their possessions.

The police spokesman said Fateh Jang police arrested accused, Husnain Ahmed and recovered a 30-bore pistol with cartridges.

A team of Pindigheb police station arrested an outlaw namely Fizan and recovered 9MM pistols form his possession.

Meanwhile, Hassanabdal police during interrogation recovered a 30-bore pistol from an accused, Muhammad Kamran involved in a murder case.

The police registered separate cases against the accused and launched further probes.

Abbottabad: Deputy Commissioner Abbottabad, Sanaullah Khan Tuesday presided a meeting on interfaith harmony at the DC office conference room.

The session brought together religious scholars, minority representatives, and district officials.

The DC stressed the state's responsibility to ensure equal rights for all citizens, regardless of religion or sect, and highlighted the importance of harmony, tolerance, and mutual respect for societal progress. Participants pledged cooperation to promote peace and brotherhood.

ADC General Muhammad Usman Ashraf, ADC Relief Amanullah Saeed, Chairman of the District Reconciliation Committee Lt. Gen. (R) Ayaz Saleem Rana, AC Abbottabad Zarak Yar Khan Toru, SSP Havelian Ishtiaq Khan, and other officials participated in the meeting.

The district administration assured that similar meetings will continue to foster unity, equality, and the protection of citizens' rights.

Peshawar: A special Anti Terrorism Court in Peshawar on Tuesday extended the physical remand of Muhammad Wali, a facilitator involved in the Peshawar Police Lines bombing.

The police had requested an extension of his remand to continue the investigation.

The ATC Judge, Wali Muhammad Khan granted a one-day extension. Muhammad Wali, a former police officer with links to a banned organization, is under investigation.

The investigation has not yet been completed, so the court allowed for an additional day of remand to further question him.

lahore: National Institute of Public Policy celebrated a significant milestone of the accreditation of the Journal of Pakistan Administration by Higher Education Commission during a formal ceremony held at the NSPP here on Tuesday. The event marked a pivotal moment in the journal's journey which started in early sixties, affirming its commitment to excellence, credibility, and academic integrity. During the event, Dr Naveed Elahi, the Editor-in-Chief of Journal of Pakistan Administration in his keynote address, expressed gratitude to the contributors and supporters, stating that the accreditation in category 'Y' was not just a beginning but also an inspiration to continue pushing boundaries in publishing and research. He said that it has marked Rector NSPP Dr Ijaz Munir's commitment to promoting high quality research and advancing knowledge in public administration. He said the process of accreditation involved a thorough review of editorial practices and peer review procedures. He dedicated th at achievement to his team which included editor Dr Saifullah Khalid, Assistant editor Sabina Babar, authors and reviewers without whose help that milestone wouldn't have been possible to achieve.

He also acknowledged the technical support provided by Dr Rafique Awan, the consultant for JPA. He further stated that the accreditation, awarded by HEC, is a testimony to the rigorous efforts made by the NIPP to upgrade the standards in editorial quality, peer-review processes, and contributions to advancing knowledge in the field of public policy. The ceremony was attended by members of editorial and advisory board, and academic researchers. Dr Sohail, a member of the JPA Advisory Board lauded the National Institute of Public Policy's dedication to fostering research. Rector NSPP in his concluding speech, commended the editorial team and the efforts of Editor-in-Chief, Dr Naveed Elahi. He commented that accreditation of journal was one of his dreams when he joined as Rector three and a half years ago. He said the deadline for accreditation was set at 30th September and it was done on 27th September 2024, all because of personal efforts of Dr Naveed Elahi. He said in the years to come, the objective would be to upgrade it further and the journal would prove its role as a beacon of knowledge and a platform for groundbreaking research in Public Administration. It was a well-deserved acknowledgment of its impact on public policy research and it would continue to add cutting-edge researches and insights in the field of public administration, he added.

Lahore: Punjab Revenue Authority (PRA) has announced a comprehensive strategy to identify and bring unregistered tax defaulters into the tax net. Through utilizing the expertise of government officials at the district and tehsil levels, the PRA aims to gather data on unregistered individuals involved in various taxable services. PRA spokesperson told the media here Tuesday that at district level, the function of broadening of tax base was entrusted to Additional Deputy Commissioner (General), while at Tehsil level, the relevant Assistant Commissioners would oversee data collection.

Under the Punjab Sales Tax on Services Act, the initiative would target unregistered entities including marriage halls, hotels, motels, guest houses, catering, restaurants, cable TV operations, and internet services. Moreover, data relevant to builders, real estate agents, property dealers, automobile dealers, beauty parlors, salons, clinics, tour operators, commission agents, and a total of 21 identified service providers would be collected. To facilitate the operation, the PRA had granted officials powers under the relevant sections of the PRA Act for a two-year period. The move aims to expand the tax net and ensure compliance by identifying unregistered individuals and businesses, marking a significant step toward strengthening the revenue framework in Punjab.

Peshawar: In response to increasing complaints of overcrowding on the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system in Peshawar, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Sarmad Salim Akram on Tuesday conducted an inspection of the BRT buses and interacted with commuters to understand their challenges and reviewed various operational issues.

The DC emphasized the need to increase the number of buses on busy BRT routes to address the overcrowding problem.

The DC engaged directly with passengers, listening to their experiences and concerns. While passengers praised the BRT service for making travel faster, more comfortable, and affordable, they also highlighted minor issues and suggested extending the service to other areas.

The Deputy Commissioner assured immediate action on their feedback.

During the visit, the DC inspected several BRT stations, reviewing cleanliness, passenger guidance systems, ticketing processes, and facilities for individuals with disabilities.

He also met with the staff at the stations and appreciated their efforts.

Additionally, citizens requested the launch of new BRT routes and urged increased administrative oversight in commercial areas served by BRT.

A notable suggestion was allowing ambulances access to BRT routes, for which a survey would be conducted to assess feasibility.
