DPM for swift completion of textile parks, enhancing investments

Islamabad: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Muhammad Ishaq Dar on Monday directed the departments concerned to expeditiously complete the textile parks in Pakistan and strive to enhance investment in the export-oriented industries.

The deputy prime minister, chairing a meeting of the Working Group on the Establishment of Textile Parks in Pakistan, also emphasized the importance of investment in Pakistan's textile sector.

The meeting was attended by the federal minister for investment, provincial ministers, federal secretaries of foreign affairs, industries, Board of Investment, and Special Investment Facilitation Council and senior government officials.

Chinese businessmen invited to seize investment opportunities in Pakistan’s plastic industry

Beijing: Acting Consul General of Pakistan in Guangzhou, China Sardar Muhammad has called upon the Chinese businessmen to seize investment opportunities within Pakistan's plastic industry.

In his opening remarks at Pakistan-China Plastic Industry B2B Investment Conference recently concluded in Guangzhou, welcomed participants and encouraged them to foster deeper cooperation and explore joint venture that would benefit both countries.

As many as eight Pakistani companies and 44 Chinese companies attending both online and offline.

Sardar Muhammad underscored the significant investment opportunities within Pakistan's plastic industry.

The conference facilitated numerous business meetings, resulting in the signing of 8 MoUs. Participants expressed their satisfaction with the event's organization, noting it provided an excellent platform for connecting businesses from both countries, fostering partnerships, and discovering new avenues for mutual growth.

Tarar visits residence of late senior journalist Javed Shahzad, offers Fateha

Islamabad: Federal Minister for Information, Broadcasting, National Heritage and Culture Attaullah Tarar on Monday visited the residence of senior journalist Javed Shahzad to condole his death.

The minister expressed his heartfelt condolences and sympathies to the brother of the deceased, senior journalist Khurram Shehzad and other family members and recited Fateha for the soul of the late Javed Shahzad.

The minister said that Javed Shahzad was a hardworking and capable journalist who devoted most of his life to journalism.

The vacuum created in the field of journalism due to Javed Shehzad's death will never be filled, Attaullah Tarar said adding that the journalistic services of the deceased will always be remembered.

He said that he equally shared the grief of the bereaved family and Javed Shahzad's and his children will not be left alone.

The minister prayed to Allah Almighty to rest the departed soul in eternal peace and grant courage to the bereaved family to bear this loss with fortitude.

Prime Minister's Media Coordinator Badr Shahbaz Waraich was also present on the occasion.

Pakistan, Bangladesh diplomats stress strengthening bilateral trade ties

Dubai: Consul General of Bangladesh in Dubai Md. Rashedujjaman on Monday paid a courtesy call on his Pakistani counterpart Hussain Muhammad here wherein both sides discussed bilateral ties and ways to further strengthen cooperation.

Welcoming the visiting Consul General, Hussain emphasized the importance of strengthening ties between Bangladesh and Pakistan, particularly in trade.

Both diplomats acknowledged the potential for collaboration and agreed to engage their respective consulates' trade sections to further promote bilateral cooperation.

During the meeting, Md. Rashedujjaman expressed his gratitude to Hussain Muhammad for the warm reception and appreciated the valuable insights shared regarding the consular services provided by the Pakistani consulate.

Both sides had an in-depth discussion on various consular services including passport issuance, national identity cards, and visa procedures.

They agreed to enhance information sharing and future collaboration regarding community services and public awareness initiatives.

The meeting was also attended by senior diplomats from both sides.

FS Baloch receives UNAMA Special Representative in Afghanistan

Islamabad: Foreign Secretary Amna Baloch on Monday received Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Afghanistan Roza Otunbayeva, Head of United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA), on the sidelines of the conference on girls' education.

During the meeting, both sides exchanged views on developments about Afghanistan and the international community's efforts to address the country's humanitarian challenges, Foreign Office Spokesperson said in a press release.
