Islamabad: The 100-Index of the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) turned around to bullish trend on Friday, gaining losing 609.03 points, a positive change of 0.54 percent, closing at 113,247.29 points as compared to 112,638.26 points on the last trading day.

A total of 499,846,692 shares were traded during the day as compared to 695,142,411 shares the previous trading day, whereas the price of shares stood at Rs 24.142 billion against Rs.24.293 billion on the last trading day.

As many as 450 companies transacted their shares in the stock market, 177 of them recorded gains and 218 sustained losses, whereas the share price of 55 companies remained unchanged.

The three top trading companies were WorldCall Telecom with 68,828,791 shares at Rs 1.75 per share, Fauji Foods Limited with 31,850,296 shares at Rs.17.09 per share and Cnergyico PK with 31,582,736 shares at Rs.6.68 per share.

Nestle Pakistan Limited witnessed a maximum increase of Rs.351.39 per share price, closing at Rs 7,502.60, whereas the runner-up was Unilever Pakistan Foods Limited with Rs 89.00 rise in its per share price to Rs.20,900.01.

PIA Holding Company Limited B witnessed a maximum decrease of Rs 67.82 per share closing at Rs 844.57 followed by Service Industries Limited with Rs 28.58 decline to close at Rs.1,416.18.

Islamabad: The National Assembly's Standing Committee on Inter Provincial Coordination (IPC) on Friday expressed dissatisfaction with the inadequate preparation of the management in delivering a comprehensive presentation on the agenda concerning the recent elections conducted by the Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) at the federal, provincial, and district levels.

The meeting was chaired by its Chairman, MNA Muhammad Sana Ullah Khan, said a press release. The meeting included a briefing on the Pakistan Football Federation (PFF), as well as discussions on Pakistan Kabaddi Federations.

The committee directed the PFF to provide a more thorough and well-prepared briefing on the agenda within 15 days. Additionally, the committee instructed the PFF and the Pakistan Sports Board to ensure the briefing/working papers are submitted at least three days prior to the next committee meeting.

The committee urged the Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) to include details in the next briefing regarding the eligibility of voters for the election, decisions on appeals by individuals or bodies banned by the PFF during the elections, and the orders of the Supreme Court.

Furthermore, it instructed the representative of the Pakistan Kabaddi Federation (PKF) to convey its directive to the PKF President, ensuring his presence at the next meeting.

Islamabad: A devastating accident occurred early Friday morning near Gulab Devi Hospital in Lahore, leaving a driver critically injured.

According to police sources, the incident happened when a loaded truck overturned while navigating a sharp turn, Private news channel reported.

The driver, who is currently receiving medical attention, suffered severe injuries in the crash.

Fortunately, no other casualties have been reported.

Police Rescue teams promptly reached the site and initiated rescue efforts. They worked to carefully extract the injured driver from the wreckage and provide immediate medical assistance.

However, the overturned truck has caused significant disruptions to traffic flow in the area. Metro bus services have also been affected, with commuters facing delays and diversions.

Police and emergency services are working to clear the wreckage and restore normal traffic conditions as soon as possible.

Islamabad: Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) has hosted a faculty seminar on the topic of 'Modern Trends in Islamic Research' the other day.

The event featured Dr Mustafeez Ahmad Alvi, a prominent scholar from the Department of Islamic Thought and Culture, National University of Modern Languages (NUML), Islamabad, as the keynote speaker.

The session was presided over by Prof. Dr Shah Mohayyuddin Hashmi, Dean, Faculty of Arabic and Islamic Studies, AIOU.

In his keynote address, Dr Mustafeez Ahmad Alvi emphasized the importance of looking beyond the past in research.

He stated, "Our research often draws lessons from the past, which is not entirely appropriate. We should take guidance from the past but not let it dominate our work.

The focus of research should be on the present and future, aligning with contemporary needs and challenges."

He further highlighted the modern era's intellectual shift, noting, "The West is gradually returning to spirituality through rational arguments."

Addressing the seminar, Prof. Dr Shah Mohayyuddin Hashmi stressed the need for impartiality in research.

"Instead of adopting a confrontational approach, we must develop a neutral and balanced attitude. The Holy Quran encourages research in several places and the process of research is universal, rooted in scientific and global principles. Ijtihad (independent reasoning) and research lead to the creation of new knowledge, which drives national progress," he stated.

Prof. Dr Ghulam Shams-ur-Rehman, Chairman, Department of Interfaith Studies, AIOU, delivered the opening and concluding remarks, expressing gratitude to the speakers for their participation and thought-provoking insights.

The seminar was moderated by Dr H.M Farooq Abdullah from the Department of Interfaith Studies, AIOU.

The event witnessed a large turnout of university faculty members and students.

Islamabad: The price of 24 karat per tola gold increased by Rs.1,100 and was sold at Rs 279,400 on Friday against its sale at Rs 278,300 on previous trading day, All Sindh Sarafa Jewellers Association reported.

The price of 10 grams of 24 karat gold also increased by Rs.943 to Rs.239,540 from Rs 238,597 whereas that of 10 gram 22 karat also went up to Rs.219,579 from Rs 218,714.

The prices of per tola and ten gram silver remained constant at Rs3,350 and Rs. Rs.2,872.08 respectively. The price of gold in the international market increased by $11 to $2,676 from $2,665, the Association reported.
