Lahore: A delegation of the Law Reforms Committee met Prosecutor General Punjab, Syed Farhad Ali Shah to discuss amendments to existing laws in line with modern requirements.

The delegation included SSP CTD Syed Hasnain Haider, Additional Commissioner Atiqa Rehman, Deputy Secretary Zafar Iqbal, Special Secretary Heritage Ejaz Khaliq, and Secretary Agri-Commission Afzal Ahmed.

During the meeting, several key proposals were discussed, including providing immediate legal assistance to both the police and the affected person after the registration of an FIR, issuing medico-legal documents from the Police Service Center within 24 hours, amending rules to set a specific time-frame for declaring medical reports and formulating Crime Scene Protection Rules.

The Prosecutor General Punjab requested further input from all stakeholders to refine these proposals.

Speaking on the occasion, Syed Farhad Ali Shah emphasized the importance of independent and autonomous institutions in ensuring justice. He highlighted that all departments are actively working in line with Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz's vision to improve the justice system.

The meeting concluded with a consensus on the need for legal reforms to enhance efficiency and public service delivery.

Lahore: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) observed Interpol's International Day to honor police officers who sacrificed their lives in the line of duty.

A solemn ceremony was held at FIA Headquarters, where Director General FIA, Jan Muhammad, laid a floral wreath at the Martyrs' Memorial.

Speaking on the occasion, the DG FIA said that March 7 is a day to pay tribute to the eternal sacrifices of police martyrs. 'This is a day to remember the great individuals who laid down their lives for our peace and security,' he said.

Interpol marks this day annually to recognize the bravery and dedication of law enforcement personnel worldwide. In connection with the observance, various events and sessions were organized at FIA Headquarters to highlight the sacrifices made by police officers in ensuring public safety.

The DG FIA emphasised that the sacrifices of brave officers who laid down their lives for the rule of law and public security will never be forgotten. 'Today, we pay tribute to all police martyrs globally and stand in solidarity with their families,' he added.

He further noted that March 7 is a symbol of unity and solidarity among law enforcement agencies worldwide. 'We honor the courage and dedication of those who made the ultimate sacrifice for public safety. Their selflessness will always serve as an inspiration for us all,' he remarked.

The event concluded with a pledge to never forget the bravery, greatness, and sacrifices of police officers who laid down their lives in the line of duty.

Lahore: The Virtual Center for Child Safety swiftly responded to a case involving a three-year-old lost child found near Data Darbar Lahore and successfully reunited her with her parents.

According to details, a police officer discovered the young girl outside Data Darbar, who could only state her name. The officer immediately called the emergency helpline 15 to report the case to the Virtual Center for Child Safety. Acting promptly, the Virtual Center for Child Safety dispatched a police team to the location, which took the child into protective custody and transferred her to Tahaffuz Manzil. Meanwhile, at Data Darbar Police Station, a missing child report was filed by a distressed parent. The police shared the child's details with the parents, who were able to identify and confirm their relationship. After completing the necessary verification process, the child was safely handed over to her parents.

The Spokesperson for the Punjab Safe Cities Authority urged citizens to immediately report any lost or abandoned children by calling 15 and pressing 3 to notify the Virtual Center for Child Safety.

Lahore: On the direction of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif, the provincial government has released an amount of Rs 340 million for the purchase of medicines for Mayo Hospital.

According to a handout issued here on Friday, the Finance Department has granted permission to reallocate funds originally designated for pay and allowances of vacant posts in the hospital. This step has been taken to ensure an uninterrupted supply of essential medicines.

Despite the availability of additional funds in Mayo Hospital's budget, they were not utilized efficiently, prompting the government to take immediate action. The Finance Department has now issued orders for the reallocation of these funds to address the shortage of medicines and improve patient care.

Lahore: The Home Department Punjab has released a list of banned organisations as well as unregistered charitable institutions and asked the public not to donate to unregistered and banned charities.

It is important to note that under the Anti-Terrorism Act 1997, providing any form of support to banned organizations is a criminal offense.

According to a spokesperson for the Home Department Punjab, those assisting banned organisations engaged in terrorism and anti-state activities will be subject to legal consequences.

Additionally, it is mandatory for charitable institutions in Punjab to register with the Punjab Charity Commission (PCC). The Home Department urged citizens to donate their Zakat, charity and donations only to registered organisations listed under the PCC.

The spokesperson added all registered organisations can be verified through the QR code on their certificate. He further said that citizens must ensure their donations reach deserving individuals rather than terrorists. Citizens are encouraged to report any fraudulent organisations involved in terrorism, anti-state activities or personal gains to the home department.
