Lahore: In connection with Horse and Cattle Show 2025, the Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) organized a "Cyclothon" event for cycling enthusiasts from Mozang to Liberty Chowk, here on Sunday. A large number of men, women, and children enthusiastically participated in the Cyclothon, making it a vibrant and energetic cycling event. The participants praised the initiative, highlighting its role in promoting health, fitness, and environmental awareness. Additionally, the Family Cyclothon saw the participation of around 500 families, further adding to the event's success and community engagement. The winners of the event were awarded prizes: Rs 200,000 for the first position, Rs 100,000 for the second position, and Rs 50,000 for the third position. PHA Additional Director General Zeeshan Ranjha, and the Director of Sports, Amir Ibrahim, distributed cash prizes, medals, and cups to the winners.Zeeshan Ranjha said that the PHA was organizing various healthy activities for citizens in connectio n with the Horse and Cattle Show 2025. He emphasized that cycling is beneficial for both health and the environment. By promoting cycling culture, a healthy society could be established. Citizens could contribute to building a healthy society by incorporating cycling into their daily lives. On the occasion, Director of Sports Amir Ibrahim mentioned that cycling was not only a means of transport but also a fantastic form of recreation, exercise, and sport. Cycling benefits physical health and provides mental peace. Lahore residents were encouraged to visit parks and recreational spots with their families to double the joy of the Horse and Cattle Show events. The PHA was organizing exciting events for citizens at Jailani Park, Bagh Jinnah, and Fortress Stadium.

Lahore::Deputy Commissioner (DC) Syed Musa Raza, chairing a meeting at his office on Saturday, reviewed the arrangements for setting up Ramazan bazaars across provincial capital.

The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner General Muhammad Shojain Vistro, Director of Industries, Secretary of the Market Committee, and GM of Model Bazaar.

During the briefing, it was informed that ten model bazaars will be set up across Lahore during the holy month of Ramzan, with each tehsil hosting one model bazaar featuring 10 shops. Seven of these shops will offer essential goods such as fruits, vegetables, lentils, spices, and other items, while the remaining three will be dedicated to selling meat. The vendors will receive goods at wholesale prices, ensuring affordable rates for consumers.

The DC emphasized that the goods sold will be of high quality and that all items would adhere to the prices set by the Market Committee. Separate counters will be arranged for women, senior citizens, and general customers to ensure ease of shopping for all. Furthermore, the bazaars will be maintained with high standards of cleanliness, and adequate parking will be provided.

DC Syed Musa Raza instructed that all arrangements be completed by February 24th, ensuring the bazaars are ready before Ramadan begins.

Meanwhile, the DC conducted a visit to various locations in Tehsil Allama Iqbal Town to review the cleanliness and encroachment measures in Thokar Niaz Baig, Khanpur, and the surrounding areas of Sabzazar.

MCL CO Shahid Abbas Kathia, Assistant Commissioner Allama Iqbal Town Muhammad Khawaja Umair, and other officials were present.

The DC expressed frustration over the poor cleanliness arrangements in Thokar Niaz Baig Service Lane and green belts. He instructed LWMC and WASA officials to immediately address the cleanliness issues. He emphasized that poor cleanliness would not be tolerated at any point.

The DC warned administrative officers that an effective monitoring system is essential for improving cleanliness operations. He urged shopkeepers to dispose of waste in designated bins and avoid throwing it on roads or green belts. Special cleanliness operations will be launched on main roads, streets, and neighborhoods, he said.

He also called for awareness walks and door-to-door campaigns to educate the public about cleanliness. He directed that goods will be seized, and fines imposed if encroachments persist despite warnings and notices. Model carts will soon be provided to street vendors free of charge to boost the local economy.

Lahore::Punjab Information Minister Azma Bukhari said that in Punjab era of agriculture,industry and infrastructure was at its peak.

In a statement issued here on Saturday,she said that Punjab Chief Minister(CM) Maryam Nawaz was taking practical and revolutionary measures in almost every sector.

She said that speedy work was ongoing to make Punjab a food basket province in a real sense.

Azma Bukhari further said that for first time Kissan Card Programme worth Rs.400 billion had been started for farmers while provision of green tractors,super seeders and provision of agricultural machinery on rent was ongoing successfully.

She said that Punjab Chief Minister(CM) was providing relief to people in all districts of Punjab without any discrimination.

The minister said that under Ramazan Nigheban ration would be provided to deserving people at their doorsteps.

She said that following initiatives of Punjab CM Maryam Nawaz by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Sindh was a good omen.

Azma said that Maryam Nawaz vision and policy were aimed at welfare and prosperity of common man.

Opposition should focus on solving problems of people instead of criticizing Maryam Nawaz, she added.

According to the audience, such academic and research projects help in better understanding the complex events of history, especially when they directly present the stories of those who were eyewitnesses of that time or whose families were affected by it. The questions and interest of the students show that more research and dialogue is needed on this topic. The hard work of LUMS Professor Ali Usman Qasmi and Dr Ilyas Chatha in creating the film is commendable, who highlighted the stories of partition through the film.

Speaking on the occasion, Chairman Department of History Prof Dr Mehboob Hussain said that he is grateful to the filmmakers for presenting the students with a film made on an excellent topic. He said that such academic activities give young researchers the opportunity to look at different angles of history and also highlight the importance of research methods like oral history.

Lahore::The Dolphin Squad arrested 21 accused involved in kite flying and one-wheeling.

According to the Dolphin spokesperson, a total of 21 accused were arrested from different areas of the city, 19 one-wheelers were arrested from Defense, Mall Road, Jail Road, Band Road, Ferozepur Road and other areas, while two accused involved in kite flying and firing were arrested, from whom kites and strings were recovered.

The SP Dolphin said that indiscriminate action will continue against kite flying, one-wheeling and firing.
