Ceremony held to distribute honorarium among Imams

PESHAWAR:Deputy Commissioner Shafiullah Khan on Thursday presided over honorarium distribution ceremony among Imams (prayers leaders) in Peshawar.

The ceremony was attended by Imams and scholars from all schools of thought including MPA Pir Fida Muhammad, Chief Khateeb Maulana Tayyab Qureshi and Coordinator Muttahida Ulema Board Mufti Zafar Zaman Haqqani.

Deputy Commissioner Peshawar appreciating the efforts of religious scholars and imams and said that they are playing an important role in various fields.

He lauded Ulema role in creating awareness among people against polio virus, typhoid, coronavirus, dengue and maintaining peace and promoting inter-faith harmony.

The participants thanked the provincial government, endowment department and district administration Peshawar for their support and cooperation and appreciated KP government efforts to take care of their needs.

The Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) government has released Rs2.6 billion annually to provide monthly stipends to more than 20,000 prayer leaders in the province.
