Sialkot: A ceremony to mark the Independence Day celebrations was held at Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) Auditorium on Tuesday. The ceremony was attended by Group Leader Sialkot Business Community Riaz-ud-Din Sheikh (Sitara-e-Imtiaz), Senior Vice President (SVP) SCCI Wahub Jahangir, Vice President (VP) SCCI Amer Majeed Sheikh, Chairman SCCI Departmental Committee on Post Office and Telecommunications Saleem Akhtar Bhutta, Senior Vice President (SVP) Women Chamber of Commerce and Industry Sialkot (WCCIS) Gulzaib Waqas Awan, Chairperson Legal Aid Committee and Legal Advisor WCCIS Lubna Tabassum, SCCI Executive Committee Members and Sialkot Business Community.
Addressing the ceremony, SCCI President Abdul Ghafoor Malik highlighted the Pakistan Movement and paid tribute to the national heroes for their struggle for a separate homeland envisioned by the Poet of the East Allama Muhammad Iqbal. He said that August 14 was the day when the nation remembers those who sacrificed their lives for gettin
g independence from Indian yoke. He said that independent Pakistan was a blessing from Allah and now it was a responsibility of people of the country to make it stronger and prosperous. Earlier, SCCI President Abdul Ghafoor Malik cut a cake and hoisted the national flag at SCCI Auditorium.
