Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif on Tuesday directed the provincial assembly members from Dera Ghazi Khan to closely monitor ongoing development projects in their constituencies and ensure timely resolution of public issues.
She issued the directions during a meeting with DG Khan MPAs Ahmed Khan Leghari, Ali Ahmed Leghari, Osama Abdul Karim, Hanif Pathafi, Osama Leghari and Salahuddin Khan.
The meeting discussed the prevailing political situation, law and order and matters of public interest.
The MPAs congratulated the chief minister on her successful visit to China and appreciated the launch of the electric bus service in Dera Ghazi Khan, describing it as a ‘game changer’ for the city.
They said the people of DG Khan were grateful to the chief minister for introducing modern and environment-friendly public transport facilities.
The lawmakers also appreciated the improvement in the law and order situation in Dera Ghazi Khan under the chief minister’s effective policies, particularly in the Katcha areas, saying the improvement there for the first time was a manifestation of good governance in Punjab.
CM Maryam Nawaz Sharif said her visit to China was aimed at transforming Punjab into a hub of artificial intelligence and modern technology. She said advanced treatment and diagnostic methods, particularly for cancer and other diseases, would soon be introduced in Punjab on the Chinese model.
The CM said she was particularly pleased to see people travelling on electric buses in Dera Ghazi Khan, adding that development was no longer confined to Lahore. ‘For the first time in history, major development projects on the pattern of Lahore have been launched in other areas as well,’ she said.
She said road, drainage, water supply and beautification projects were underway in Dera Ghazi Khan and other cities, reflecting the government’s focus on providing modern civic facilities to people across the province.
