DERA ISMAIL KHAN:Commissioner of Dera Ismail Khan, Zafarul Islam Khattak, emphasized the need for collective efforts to eradicate polio from the country. He expressed these views while addressing a ceremony held on Tuesday at Gomal University in connection with World Polio Day.
He urged the youth, who are the architects of the country’s future, to come forward and play a role in supporting the efforts to make the country polio-free. He also encouraged parents to administer polio drops to their children for up to five years to protect them from this crippling disease.
Deputy Commissioner of Dera, Mansoor Arshad Khattak, District Health Officer Dr. Mehmood Jan Bettani, Coordinator of KP South Hub Eid Nawaz, Dr. Muhammad Tufail on behalf of UNICEF, Registrar Dr. Muhammad Shoaib, Dean of Arts Dr. Nimatullah Babar, Qari Muhammad Bilal, Gomal University Provost Dr. Mohammad Nabil, Riyaz Bettani, along with other officials, attended the event.
Certificates of appreciation were distributed among the polio workers, and he also paid tribute to the polio workers who sacrificed their lives in the line of duty.
Deputy Commissioner of Dera, Mansoor Arshad, stated that the role of teachers and students cannot be ignored, and they should also contribute their efforts towards the eradication of polio.
