Lahore: Lahore Commissioner Nauman Yousaf on Monday directed deputy commissioners of all four districts in the division to further strengthen dengue surveillance, stressing that August and September were critical months for prevention efforts.
Chairing a divisional review meeting, here, the commissioner instructed indoor and outdoor surveillance teams to ensure comprehensive inspections of all potential dengue breeding sites based on larval growth and case history. He ordered the clearance of open plots, bushes and graveyards, and directed special deep surveillance in Nishtar Town and Iqbal Town while ensuring coverage of both hotspots and other vulnerable areas.
According to a briefing, Lahore reported 12 confirmed dengue cases and 19 probable cases from January 1 to August 15. Authorities also registered 247 FIRs and issued more than 106, 000 warning notices as part of enforcement measures against dengue SOP violations.
Commissioner Nauman Yousaf said effective surveillance during the coming weeks would be key to preventing outbreaks and directed the Lahore Waste Management Company (LWMC) and anti-dengue field teams to remain fully active without any compromise.
Additional Commissioner Bilal Hassan, district health officers and deputy commissioners of all four districts attended the meeting, with the latter participating via video link.
