Commissioner reviews arrangements for Eid Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH)


Lahore: Lahore Commissioner Nauman Yousaf has reviewed arrangements for Eid Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH) and directed the district administration and relevant departments to ensure timely completion of all security, traffic and civic arrangements for the occasion.



He chaired an important meeting at Town Hall here on Tuesday attended by Peace Committee Chairman Mufti Intikhab Alam, Deputy Commissioner Lahore Muhammad Ali Ijaz Tiwana, CTO Lahore Syed Abdulrehim Shirazi, SSP Operations Abdullah Ahmed, district administrative officers and members of the District Peace Committee.



The meeting was briefed that 71 major Eid Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH) processions would be taken out across Lahore, including 19 on 11th Rabi-ul-Awwal and 52 on 12th Rabi-ul-Awwal. As many as 7, 000 Lahore Police personnel would be deployed for security duties on 12th Rabi-ul-Awwal.



The administration and security agencies have finalized a joint plan for the occasion, while the Traffic Police, Rescue 1122 and other allied departments have completed their arrangements.



The meeting was further informed that 3, 000 Civil Defence volunteers would perform security duties along the procession routes, while Rescue 1122 ambulances and motorbikes would remain alert and on standby to respond to emergencies.



The CTO Lahore briefed the meeting on the traffic route and parking plans, saying duties have been assigned for all processions and arrangements to facilitate citizens and ensure smooth traffic flow.



Peace Committee Chairman Mufti Intikhab Alam gave a detailed briefing on security arrangements and preparations at Data Darbar.



Chairing the meeting, Commissioner Nauman Yousaf directed the departments concerned to complete all arrangements within the stipulated time. He ordered patchwork along all procession routes and restoration of streetlights. He also directed the Traffic Police to prepare alternative route and parking plans for public convenience and stressed strict implementation of security measures during processions, particularly those at Data Darbar.



The Commissioner welcomed suggestions for further improvement of arrangements and said all Rabi-ul-Awwal programmes would be organized in the best possible manner. He directed the relevant departments to ensure timely completion of all arrangements.



Deputy Commissioner Lahore Muhammad Ali Ijaz Tiwana said the administration would provide all available resources for administrative and security arrangements and take strict action against elements involved in indecent or unethical activities.



SSP Operations Abdullah Ahmed said Lahore Police, in coordination with the Commissioner and Deputy Commissioner, would ensure foolproof security arrangements, adding that 7, 000 personnel would be deployed on 12th Rabi-ul-Awwal.



CTO Lahore Syed Abdulrehim Shirazi said all processions are known to the Traffic Police, duties have been assigned and planning for traffic routes and parking arrangements has been completed.
