Dera ismail khan: A special open court (public hearing) for the minority community was held here at the Deputy Commissioner’s Office, aimed at addressing grievances and ensuring their prompt resolution.
The session was chaired by Commissioner Dera Ismail Khan Division, Dawood Khan, and attended by Deputy Commissioner Dera Ismail Khan Abdul Nasir Khan, Additional Deputy Commissioner Finance and Planning Farhan Khan, assistant commissioners, officers and representatives of relevant government departments, as well as elders and members of the minority community in large numbers.
During the open court, the participants raised a range of issues, including electricity supply, education, job quotas, seniority matters, salary-related concerns, renovation and preservation of historical heritage sites, and the organization of sports events. The representatives of the minority community presented their concerns in detail and urged the upon the departments concerned to take concrete steps for their resolution.
Addressing the gathering, Commissioner Dawood Khan said that resolving the issues and complaints of the minority community was among the administration’s top priorities, adding that all available resources would be utilized to ensure effective redressal. He directed the officers present to take public complaints seriously and ensure their resolution within the stipulated timeframe, warning that negligence or unnecessary delay would not be tolerated and that performance would be closely monitored.
Deputy Commissioner Abdul Nasir Khan stated that the purpose of holding open court was to reduce the gap between the public and the administration and to facilitate direct engagement for swift problem-solving. He emphasized that the government believed in public service and was committed to providing basic facilities to all citizens without discrimination. He further stressed that protecting minorities and safeguarding their rights was a fundamental responsibility of the state.
Responding to complaints regarding delays in salary payments, the deputy commissioner clarified that salaries were released on time by the administration, but delays often occurred at the banking level.
At the conclusion of the session, the participants appreciated the initiative and expressed the hope that their issues would be resolved soon. They noted that such public forums played a vital role in building trust in the administration and called for the continuation of open courtsin the future.
