QUETTA: Commissioner Quetta Division Hamza Shafaqat urged the scholars, stakeholders and civil society members to play their role for the elimination of polio disease in order to save future of new generation.
He expressed these views on Thursday while addressing at a ceremony organized under the auspices of Rotary International regarding the role of scholars in the eradication of polio.
Addressing at the ceremony, Commissioner Quetta Hamza Shafqat said that the polio was such a deadly disease that if a child was infected once it becomes disabled for life.
He said that India, a country with a population of one and a half billion has eradicated polio disease in five years adding that many countries including Iran, Malaysia, Indonesia and Saudi Arabia have uprooted this disease.
It is the responsibility of every individual, including scholars, society to play their role to make Pakistan polio free, he said.

io virus and measures should be taken to get parents into confidence so that they could administer anti-polio drops to their children.
Addressing the ceremony, former Member of National Assembly Muhammad Hanif Tayyab said that due to the hard work of various organizations and Rotary, there has been a reduction in polio cases in the country saying that very soon Pakistan and Afghanistan would also be free from polio virus.
Maulana Anwar-ul Haqqani said that the polio cases were not ending due to our negligence, scholars were playing a leading role in eradicating polio in the areas of province. He said that we all wanted to be eradicated polio diseases from our country.
