Counters set up at BoP for financial help of flood victims

LAHORE:Senior Member Board of Revenue (SMBR) and Relief Commissioner Punjab Zahid Akhtar Zaman has said the process of financial assistance distribution among flood victims is under way.

The line departments ensured a transparent survey of the flood-damaged areas by going through difficult routes to access affected regions, he added. He said the process had been initiated by the Bank of Punjab; 25 branches of the Bank of Punjab (BoP) in Dera Ghazi Khan, Rajanpur and Isa Khel were distributing funds among the flood victims.

Special counters had been set up for distribution of funds among the flood victims in the respective branches, he added.

The relief commissioner said biometric data and video records of people receiving financial assistance from the Bank of Punjab were being taken and the provincial government had increased financial assistance many times, he added.

The Punjab government was distributing a huge amount of more than Rs 12 billion for relief, he added.

The relief commissioner said: "The government is giving financial assistance of Rs 2 lakh for a destroyed concrete house, Rs 2 lakh for a partially damaged concrete house and Rs 50,000 for partial damaged mud house."

Also, the government is compensating losses of cattle and crops and financial assistance is also being given to the people who were injured or got disabled due to floods.
