DC inaugurates Monsoon plantation drive; over 70,000 saplings to be planted in DI Khan

DERA ISMAIL KHAN: Deputy Commissioner Ms Sarah Rehman on Friday inaugurated the Monsoon plantation drive in Dera Ismail Khan under which over 70,000 saplings would be planted across the district.

The deputy commissioner inaugurated the drive by planting a sapling in Circuit House, Dera Ismail Khan during a ceremony.

On this occasion, Assistant Commissioner Dera Ismail Khan Muhammad Faseeh Ishaq Abbasi, District Forest Officer Aminul Islam, officers and representatives of other departments and administration were also present. All the officers planted saplings to take part in the drive.

Addressing the ceremony, the deputy commissioner urged upon the people to actively participate in the plantation drive which not only play role in beautifying the area but also guarantee to save coming generations from adverse impacts of climate change.

She said the trees, being the best source of oxygen supply, play an essential role in sustaining the ecosystem. The trees also eliminate air pollution, she added.

She said
that plantation was among her top priorities which was also need of the hour. The plantation could also control the temperature to some extent.

She hoped that the plantation drive would be a successful as we had a competent and hardworking team in the district administration.She also said that planting 70,000 to 80,000 saplings would be planted during this drive at the district and tehsil levels, adding, the more priority would be given to urban areas.
