Hyderabad: A meeting of the District Coordination Committee (DCC) for the Mamta Program was held at the deputy commissioner’s office here on Tuesday with deputy commissioner Sanghar Sarah Javed in the chair.
Officials from the health, social welfare, HANDS and other relevant departments attended the meeting.
According to a handout issued on Tuesday, the meeting reviewed in detail matters related to maternal and child health, nutrition, immunization and provision of healthcare facilities under the Mamta Program.
The deputy commissioner directed the concerned departments to ensure effective implementation of the program so that pregnant women and newborns could receive timely and quality healthcare services.
She stressed the need for stronger coordination among all relevant departments and directed officials to improve performance at the field level.
She also called for ensuring the provision of better nutritional supplements and medicines to pregnant women suffering from malnutrition, saying that a healthy mother could give birth to a healthy child.
District Coordinator of the Sindh Social Protection Authority (Mamta Program) Shazia Mangrio briefed the meeting that 101 government and PPHI health centers had been included in the program for registration including SIMS hospital Shahdadpur.
She said 126,481 women had so far been registered in the program, under which cash assistance was being provided to meet the expenses of medical tests and medicines.
The district manager PPHI, In-charge NADRA and officials of various departments also presented suggestions and recommendations during the meeting. The participants also discussed measures to provide additional facilities to pregnant women at the NADRA office.
