Decision to start new academic year for private schools one month early

Lahore

Lahore: A decision has been made for most private schools to begin their new academic year one month early, starting in December, due to the month of Ramazan falling in February.

The academic session in most private schools will commence on December 1st; starting the session early will benefit publishers by millions of rupees.

According to sources, an early start to the academic year will allow private publishers to sell off their existing syllabus stock. Since all syllabus books are set to change for the new academic year, with new books arriving in the market by March or April, this move helps clear current inventory. Additionally, final term examinations in private schools will be held in November instead of December.

School owners state that they are starting the academic session early because school hours are reduced during the holy month of Ramadan.

Completing the syllabus becomes difficult due to these reduced hours; therefore, an early start to the academic year will facilitate the completion of the entire curriculum.
