Dera ghazi khan:The Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) Dera Ghazi Khan Region arrested a Deputy Superintendent of Jail and a jail constable red-handed while allegedly receiving a bribe of Rs 20,000, officials said on Thursday.
The arrested officials were identified as Deputy Superintendent Jail Nauman Ilyas (BS-17) and constable Allah Ditta. The marked currency notes amounting to Rs 20,000 were recovered from the suspects during the operation.
According to ACE Dera Ghazi Khan Region focal person Shamsher Khan Gormani, the trap raid was conducted by Circle Officer Headquarters Shahzad Gul under the supervision of Civil Judge Dera Ghazi Khan Jawad Zafar.
The official said the complainant, Abdul Qadir, had alleged that his son was imprisoned in the jail and that the accused officials had demanded Rs20,000 from him in return for showing leniency towards his son.
A case has been registered against the arrested officials, while further investigation into the matter is underway, the spokesperson added.
