District

Abbottabad:Commissioner Hazara Division Shahidullah Khan on Thursday inaugurated the District Nerve Centre (DNC) Abbottabad, aimed at strengthening administrative oversight, monitoring public services and improving emergency response.

Briefing the media after the inauguration, the commissioner said that the state-of-the-art Centre would enable authorities to directly monitor the performance and service delivery of government departments at district and tehsil levels.

He said that 78 CCTV cameras installed at various government departments, private institutions, markets, hospitals and offices had so far been linked with the centre, while cameras from other locations were also being connected.

Shahidullah Khan said that the Centre would retain CCTV data for at least 15 days, enabling authorities to promptly identify accidents and coordinate an effective emergency response.

He said that the facility would also help monitor traffic flow, road obstructions, cleanliness and garbage collection, besides enabling timely reporting of illegal activities and supporting law and order efforts. The commissioner said that similar centers were being established in other districts of Hazara Division, while Abbottabad was the first district where the facility had been completed. The CCTV cameras installed at schools will also be linked with the Centre in the next phase, he said.

ThE DC Abbottabad said that the District Nerve Centre would play an important role in improving public service delivery. He said citizens could also have their CCTV cameras linked with the Centre, subject to the relevant arrangements.
