Admin launches crackdown on food adulteration, imposes heavy fines

Sukkur:On the directives of Deputy Commissioner Shikarpur Shakeel Ahmed Abro, Assistant Commissioner Shikarpur Dr Arifa Batool Rai and Deputy Director of the Sindh Food Control Authority Irum conducted an operation against food adulteration and violations of food safety standards.



During the operation, the officials, accompanied by the technical team of the Sindh Food Control Authority, inspected milk shops, bakeries and hotels in different areas of Shikarpur to check the quality of food items and ensure compliance with hygiene and food safety regulations, said a press release.



During the inspections, several establishments were found violating prescribed cleanliness standards, using expired food items and selling products without clearly mentioning their expiry dates. The authorities took action against the violators, imposed heavy fines and sealed establishments found involved in serious violations.



The inspection drive aimed to protect public health, ensure the availability of safe and hygienic food, and prevent food adulteration and profiteering.



Speaking on the occasion, Assistant Commissioner Dr Arifa Batool Rai and Deputy Director of the Sindh Food Control Authority Irum stated that strict action would continue against those involved in food adulteration, profiteering and violations of food safety regulations.



They further emphasized that such inspection operations would be conducted on a daily basis to safeguard public health and ensure that food businesses comply with the prescribed standards of quality, hygiene and safety.
