Dera ismail khan: A ceremony was held at Ejaz Shaheed Police Lines in Dera Ismail Khan on Friday to mark the Independence Day of Pakistan, with Regional Police Officer (RPO) Range Ghulam Mubashir Maken attending as chief guest.
District Police Officer Ziauddin Ahmed and other senior police officers and personnel also attended the ceremony.
The RPO paid homage to police martyrs at the Martyrs’ Memorial, laid a floral wreath and offered prayers for the elevation of their ranks and for the safety, stability and prosperity of the country.
He later hoisted the national flag, while a smartly turned-out police contingent presented a salute. The ceremony also reaffirmed the police force’s resolve to protect the lives and property of citizens and make every possible sacrifice for the maintenance of peace and security.
Speaking on the occasion, the RPO said Independence Day was a reminder not only of the blessing of freedom but also of the sacrifices made for the creation of Pakistan. He said the country’s independence was the result of the struggle of the nation’s elders and the sacrifices of millions of people.
He said the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police had rendered unparalleled sacrifices for peace and the protection of the country, adding that the force would never forget its martyrs and would continue to fulfil its duty of protecting the people without hesitation.
The RPO urged police officers and personnel to reflect the true spirit of Independence Day by performing their duties honestly, responsibly and professionally. He also stressed the importance of courteous behaviour with citizens, upholding the rule of law and making public service their foremost priority.
Police stations, offices, government buildings and police vehicles across the Dera range were decorated with national flags to mark the occasion. Police personnel also participated in Independence Day activities with national spirit and enthusiasm.
The ceremony concluded with a renewed pledge by the police and the public to play their role in safeguarding Pakistan’s security, peace, stability and progress and to make every sacrifice necessary for the defence of the country.
