District

DERA ISMAIL KHAN:Commissioner Dera Division Zafar-ul-Islam Khattak has provided full security and support to journalist Miraj Khalid, a resident of South Waziristan, after taking notice of the issue of his expulsion from the area in the wake of the alleged decision of a local jirga.

Speaking to the media here on Tuesday, the Commissioner said that police and administrative officers had been stationed at his house and provided complete security and cooperation to Maraj Khalid.

He said Assistant Commissioner Wana was immediately sent to his house, and the police team also arrived at the scene for the safety of Miraj Khalid, who was told not to pay any fine or vacate the house.

However, the commissioner said it was learned that journalist Maraj Khalid had taken his belongings and left for Islamabad despite a message sent to him through a local journalist to come to Dera Ismail Khan, where two rooms for his family had been booked at the Governor Block of the Circuit House so that they could stay here for two to three days and then return to Waziristan.

He said that DC Waziristan was also active in this regard and added that the local administration in Wana was taking all possible measures to maintain the government’s writ and ensure the safety of the lives and property of the residents.
