ISLAMABAD: Detection teams of Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO) has imposed Rs 17.61 million fine on power pilferers in all six circles of the company during the ongoing anti power theft and recovery drive launched on the directives of the government and minister for power division.
IESCO chief Dr Muhammad Amjad Khan said that the IESCO teams with the collaboration of FIA and police were taking all measures to eliminate the menace of power theft.
Sharing the details, Dr Amjad that IESCO detection teams apprehended 227 electricity thieves who were using direct power supply during April. Similarly, meters of 19 consumers were found tampered, he said.
The teams charged 353,893 units besides imposing fine of Rs 17.61 million imposed on relevant customers. Some 230 first information reports (FIRs) have also been registered and police arrested 85 power pilferers.
The IESCO chief reiterated IESCO determination to eradicate the menace of power theft completely.
He also urged the consumers that power the
ft can be reported to relevant SDO, on helpline number 118 or to the Complaint and Monitoring Cell at 051-9252933-34.
