ABBOTTABAD: Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Police Hazara Ddivision Muhammad Ajaz Khan Wednesday commended professionalism of Abbottabad’s journalists and emphasized the need for police-media collaboration in the future to maintain peace in the region.
He expressed these views during his visit to the Abbottabad Press Club (APC) along with District Police Officer (DPO) Umar Tufail.
The DIG pointed out that hostile elements within the country aimed to spread sectarianism and terrorism, were utilizing social media for their nefarious agendas.
Recognizing the pivotal role of social media in the modern era, he urged media persons to verify news and posts before sharing them to prevent these elements from achieving their objectives.
Ajaz Khan encouraged journalists to highlight issues like drugs, timber and land mafias so that the police could take appropriate action against them.
Highlighting the unique accountability process within the police department, Ajaz Khan assured that any police officer involved in criminal activities or having associations with criminals would face stringent legal action.
Earlier, President APC, Raja Muhammad Haroon highlighted role of law enforcement agencies for maintaining law and order in the country .
He also appreciated the role of police in maintaining peace and improving traffic management.
