Lahore: Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Operations Lahore Faisal Kamran on Monday chaired a crime prevention meeting with the Cantt Division police and directed officers to take effective measures to control burglary and theft incidents. SSP Operations, SP Cantt, circle officers and SHOs attended the meeting, during which the city’s overall security and law and order situation was reviewed.
The DIG directed the Cantt division police to ensure the writ of the state, protect public property and take strict action against professional beggars, adding that begging was a root cause of various social evils. He directed the SP Cantt to conduct a general hold-up in accordance with the crime situation and ordered prompt disposal of pending applications on the Complaint Management System. Faisal Kamran directed police to launch a crackdown on kite flyers and gamblers, while making it clear that display of weapons and the so-called ‘Dala culture’ would not be tolerated.
He directed police to respond immediately to alerts received from the Safe City authorities and ensure mandatory registration of tenants, private employees, hotel guests and e-gadgets. The DIG directed officers to keep CCTV cameras and other equipment at police stations in working condition and directed that women should not be called to police stations for inquiries after sunset. He further directed that complaints of female citizens should be listened in the presence of a female police officer and in front of CCTV cameras. The DIG also ordered action against suspicious persons found roaming at night and reiterated the police’s zero-tolerance policy against crimes involving women and children. Faisal Kamran said there was zero tolerance for corruption and warned that officers and officials found involved in corrupt practices would face strict action.
