ISLAMABAD:District Monitoring Officer (DMO) Islamabad Tanveer-ul-Hasan on Friday issued a warning notice to three candidates contesting the local government elections from Union Council 59 to refrain from holding public meetings being planned on Saturday (December 17) or else be ready for legal proceedings.
The notice issued on Friday said that the candidates of Chairman, Vice Chairman, and Youth Councilor, Union Council 59, were planning to organize a public meeting on Saturday, December 17, at 3:30 pm in sheer violation of the Code of Conduct.
The notice warned Chaudhry Ishtiaq Ahmad Gujjar, contesting for Chairman, Jamal Butt, an aspirant of Vice Chairman and a Youth Councilor aspirant, Raja Ahsan Rafiq, taking part in LG elections from UC No 59 to must refrain from such activities in letter and spirit otherwise legal proceedings will be initiated against them under Section 234 of the Election Act 2017.
The notice says the Code of Conduct has already been delivered to all contesting candidates, according to which the aforementioned candidates will violate clause 15 of the Code of Conduct by holding a public meeting.
